Inaccurate Assessment
I went to see Dr. Maddux after being referred by a local dentist. Upon inspection of my mouth, he recommended a $4000 two week laser treatment that required two weeks of antibiotics prior, and said I would need 3 month followups for an unspecified period of time. He insisted I needed a laser deep cleaning of my entire mouth. I went to UAB Dentistry for a second opinion, and they handled more than he was going to for me for $250. Turned out I didn't need a complete deep cleaning, and the local deep cleaning I did need around one tooth was included with a regular cleaning. I did need a tooth extraction, which Dr. Maddux didn't include in his $4000 estimate. I would highly recommend getting a second opinion as Dr. Maddux is extremely aggressive at pushing over the top treatment and ongoing care visits that simply weren't necessary in my case.

Dr. Maddux is very thorough, explaining in detail as to what needs to be done. His staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would give 10 stars if I could.
