I was really trying to love this place. Our amazing pediatrician from Mv Pediatrics recommended it. I we figured that we should give it a try. When we initially met Dr Brian Shaughnessy , he was kind and welcoming. It wasn’t until during our two year old first cleaning he showed us how biased, aggressive and unkind he was. He was very forceful with his personal opinions and what has worked for his family. He was especially aggressive in his approach when he was engaging with me without my husband present. We left his office so sure that we would not be returning. So we did not book a follow up appointment. Later on in the day , Dr Brian Shaughnessy left us a voicemail apologizing about his behavior. He stated that he may have had “too much expresso” that day which caused him to act completely out of character. He assured that this wouldn’t happen again. Two years later we decided to give him and his practice another chance. Since he’s human and some days we’re not ourselves. On this particular day were running about 10 mins behind. We called to check in 45 mins prior to and were told we could still be seen since it was within the grace period. When we arrived to our surprise there was a new dentist in the practice. Dr John was very kind, gentle with our son, very respectful and unbiasedly informative. Unfortunately, my son needed an extraction and he was happy to do it. So we went ahead and scheduled this appointment with him. We arrived at 3:09, which was within the 15 min grace period of our appointment. At 3:21 i checked in with the front to get an update and ensure that they had me checked in. I believe it was Tory or Tony who i asked. She responded with a snarky tone by asking me if i had some place to be. At this point, i knew we should’ve left and found a different practice. Knowing that we were going to see Dr John made me worry less. At 3:30, we were walked in and shown our room. At 3:45 Dr Brian Shaughnessy rushed into the room and quickly started getting things together. I was seated as he was making very small talk with my six year old. Tracy walks in ready to help with a pleasant smile. He then proceeded to pull him up towards the top the chair. My son was a bit frazzled so i stood up and began explaining to my son that they were about to begin this procedure. Tracy chimed in as well and started to gently explain what she was doing to my son. Dr Brian Shaughnessy then proceeded and started poking my sons gums with the novacane. My son started making a funny face and after about 3 pokes he asked to stop. Dr Brian Shaugnessy tries to rush and continue doing a few more. My son then asked again for him to stop. So i chime in and tell Dr Brian Shaugnessy to stop. He then yells at me to sit down and be quite because they have a silent parent policy and i’m not following it. After ensuring that he stopped and is not touch my son. I then ask him why he thinks it’s appropriate to speak to me in this tone and inform him that i know nothing about the silent parent policy because if i did , i certainly wouldn’t have signed up to not be what i am committed to being and take very seriously, a parent. He toned down and starting naming all of his credentials, how many teeth he pulled for the day. As we were conversing Tracy was gently tending to my son and playing Octonauts for him on their tablet. I told Dr Brian Shaugnessy that if he wasn’t able to move forward with a different attitude and explain things to my son as he was going

This place is a hidden gem, the entire staff is absolutely professional and great with the kids. This is my sons 3rd dentist and most definitely the last Dr. Shaughnessy is very patient and great with the kids. He has a natural ability to distract them and keep them at ease. My son who used to hate the dentist has now lost his fear of going to the dentist.
