Dr. James McGee, DDS

I find the office staff very friendly, and Dr Mcgee a pleasant person, BUT, while i don't like leaving negative reviews, after having a jaw tooth removed and 3 days of terrible pain I have to warn others. After 4 rounds of shots to try and numb the tooth and a hard battle to get the tooth out, i then learn that they don't prescribe pain meds. Dr McGee said all they could give me is Tyl 3. Which is a very weak pain med but he missed the fact i am allergic to it. So since i can't take it as it's dangerous for me, it was marked as refused and he recommended ibuprofin. The shots to numb it began wearing off before i even got out of the office and i was getting in extreme pain. Any attempts to get something for the pain were met with, no you can't speak with the dentist and no we don't prescribe pain meds. My daughter's tried speaking with them since i couldn't talk but to no avail. So after 3 days of intense suffering i am writing this review to let others know to avoid this horror!

I had a terrible phobia all my life with dentist. Unfortunately after Covid I my dental health was so bad that I had to have all my teeth pulled out with the intention of looking into all on 4 , snap ins & eventually fixed bridge. After numerous consultations with offices that promote and advertise the “teeth in a day” or “all on 4 implants “ . I was very hesitant with how fast the offices were telling me they could give me a full set of teeth all in one . My husband and I decided to consult with Coast Dental (my insurance covers) .They said they could get me in to see Dr.McGee quickly at the St.Augustine location. Dr.McGee was the first to not push the whole process all at once. He is honestly the ONLY dentist I have ever felt really cared & trust. Since June Dr.McGee has placed 7 implants. My dentures look amazing they will snap in soon :) DrMcgee & his staff are all amazing! I want him to be my dentist for the rest of my life! If he ever moves offices, I would track him down. :)

Great experience especially for seeing a dentist. He is really passionate about what he does.

I just want to see that my experience with Dr. Magee was beyond than expected. Not very many doctors have a compassion to help like he does. I felt a genuine presence of care and compassion. Thank you Dr. Magee!

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE!!! I was assured my child’s insurance was taken only to be billed for everything done including X-rays (also assured insurance would cover). Deedee ‘DD’ who I spoke to told me I probably have bad credit which is why I don’t want to pay. Beforehand, though, letting it slip that she wasn’t only there because of a lot of ‘mistakes’ that were made. Well it’s a pretty huge mistake that now your business is banking from people you told were covered.

He does not honor prices on implants, after he takes money. He is the worst dentist in America.

I should have researched this dentist before he talked me into mini implants lower jaw dentures. I tried to get out of it twice, but he kept on convincing me he'd do a great job. He took out one of the implants, never reimbursed me. He didn't give my gums time to heal after he pulled out my teeth. I let him do standard denture on my upper teeth. The colors didn't match. I could go on and on. Don't go there! He has a great personality ,but wants your money.

His professional skills are good. The management of his administrative office is horrible. Ins. rep was not available during my visit. The following day I was told the person would be available 5.5 days later. After 4 calls, I was told my claim would be filed with my insurance carrier. Over 15 days later my claim had not been filed. My opinion is this business practice is to float your money.. you may get a credit or refund. Sad part..you must follow- up to make sure you are made whole.

I took my son in today for a Groupon cleaning special. He has had regular cleaning and exams and has never had an issue. The hygienist said that he had major bone loss and needed a Deep Cleaning that could be done today for only $1,014 dollars and that he also needed one tooth reworked with a Veneer to deal with an issue of cold sensitivity for only $1,500.00.
