Dr Mackman suckered us into buying a TMJ appliance which cost almost $2000 for my daughter. Now the whack job Dr cancels appointments all the time. Don’t go there

For the past 5 (five) months, I have had appointments scheduled with this "doctor." Every single one of them has been cancelled by him a week in advance, because he decides he does not want to work that day. Incredibly unprofessional, I am living in pain because he never wants to work. This also happened before my last appointment, and when I finally was able to see him, he yelled at me in a condescending way for not seeing him as soon as he wanted, when it was his fault! By far the most unprofessional doctor and office I have ever dealt with.

Dr. Mackman saved me from debilitating vertigo due to TMJ. He’s kind, funny, and gentle-spirited—plus his staff is amazing. Treatment is a slow process so you have to be patient, but by placing my trust in Dr. M he helped me get back on my feet when I was about to give up hope that my dizziness and balance issues could ever go away. I will be forever grateful.

Wonderful treatment - pain free

Has a rehearsed speech he gives everyone, which you cannot interrupt. He always threatens the worst, presumably to speed up the decision making process. He is very defensive and has an enormous ego. He leads you to believe he is giving you services for free when they are parts of the normal procedure (he would have to do anyway). He thinks patients are empty headed and eat up his every word...I guess there are some that are. I had a nurse who advised incorrectly to clench hard and open wide repeatedly "to wake up muscles and get you wide open" before she measured my jaw opening. The motion temporarily increased my pain and led to a smaller opening. When every nurse has a different concept of how to take a simple measurement it points to inadequate training. I think the best part of my experience has been physical therapy as I loathe appointments with him. Remember-- TMJ has had little research. All docs will push their own treatment on beliefs, not necessarily literature.

Friendly and knowledgeable care is consistently provided by all staff at each visit. Dr. Mackman has successfully healed me from persistent, excrutiating joint pain that interfered with all life activities several years ago to now no pain while eating my choice of foods. I greatly appreciate Dr. Mackman’s approach to treatment.

Dr. Mackman is a crafty man who knows how to extort money from patients and...___. He routinely tells people that they need a $1,000 scan when he treats them the same if they deny/can't afford the scan by having a grossly overpriced mouth guard made for them. He triple books patients so wait times are excessive. Not trustworthy, not professional.

Dr Jay Mackman and his office is the MOST unprofessional place I have ever been to. Dirty old fashioned office. I had records transferred from another specialist and wanted a 2nd opinion. Waited over 1.5 hours to see this dr., Tech took down an oral history and it took her half an hour as this office has no computers. She got most of it wrong. Painful exam and he suggested I see another Dr as he was going on vacation. Was not there to treat just a 2nd opinion. What a waste of time and money.
