Dr. John Tsaknis, DDS

Don't make the mistake I did - Stay away! Worst dentist I’ve seen in 30yrs. As a military vet, I scheduled a typical bi-annual cleaning. I left with an inexplicable root canal that continues to cause me pain daily. Please note, I have NEVER had any issues, required procedures, or problems with my dental profile before sitting in his chair. After several conversations with him, and enduring seven inexplainable appts, I’m convinced his license should be revoked. Moreover, both his arrogance and lack of quality customer service & leadership is testament to the constant employee turnover in his office. I could go on with the negative sentiment but will stop here; in hopes, that he partners with additional dental providers that are more technically proficient and professional than he.

Stay away from this pompous fool. He is incompetent and will ruin your mouth at your expense!

Worst dentist I've ever experienced. Several failed root canals and other fails due to his incompetence ruined my mouth. I'm in the process of a full mouth restoration at a highly rated dentist who couldn't believe what he was seeing in Dr. Tsaknis' work. Simply things that shouldn't happen, from gum necrosis due to a crown pinching the gum to incomplete root canals failing and becoming infected within a month of being capped to him wanted to break my jaw to realign the bite he misaligned by pulling the failed root canals and teeth shifting. New dentist was able to correct my bite and said breaking my jaw to do so was absurd. Avoid this self-absorbed genius at all costs.

Very busy practice, he has great assistants and he always takes care of me. I have had some issues with invisalign taking a bit longer than I had hoped, but he always explains what is going on, uses all of the technology to show me my progress and I haven't had to pay any extra.

I went to Dr. Tsaknis looking to have a crooked front tooth pulled and replaced with an implant, as that tooth had aesthetically been a mess and bothered me for some time. While he said we could do that and provided me a quote for the work, he strongly recommended invisalign instead. I took his recommendation and I couldn't be happier! Not only did his recommendation save me $4000, it also improved the alignment of all my other teeth and saved me from going without a tooth for a full year. Its not often that a dentist or doctor recommends a lower cost option when you walk into the office with a specific request, but Dr. Tsaknis did and it was absolutely the right solution to my problem. I can't recommend City Dental DC enough!

I've been a patient of Dr. T for 6 yrs. He's been integral to overcoming sleep apnea problems. He put something together that other doctors didn't - I needed an oral sleep device. He worked with my other doctors to get it done...and it was a long road b/c I first needed Invisalign. Dr. T stays abreast of the trends in oral health care, plus connects the dots on things others don't. I can see the points made that he might be abrupt but he ABSOLUTELY cares for his patients. Highly recommend him.

got my filling done from Dr. Tsaknis. It did not fit well and had to visit twice to fix it. he was not very poilte, always switching in-between patients and in a hurry. Would not recommend it.

None of the fillings Dr. Tsaknis did felt "right." Immediately after getting a few fillings (four in total I believe), each tooth that was filled had sensitivity that was not there before the procedure. I went back for MULTIPLE follow-up visits (i.e. more than one) where he'd clean and apply some sort of additional coating to the filling. Flash forward a year later - I STILL have sensitivity in one of my teeth. Absolutely cannot recommend this dentist for anything other than a routine cleaning.

Totally rude, doesn't listen, doesn't seem to care.
