Good Dentist- but beware of CT scan charges
I was referred by gen dentist for a consultation. She took X-rays, CT scan of jaw and performed tests for sensitivity and determined a root canal was needed. The root canal went well, no complaints. Dr. Kickertz is personable and competent. Insurance ended up rejecting the CT scan because they said it was only needed for implants or bone grafts. When her staff gave me a the pretreatment estimate, they lead me to believe it would be covered. Most of the regular charges were covered under my insurance at 80-100% without the CT scan. With the CT scan, the cost is over $400. IMO the CT was not necessary to determine if a root canal was necessary-I was in pain and tooth was cold sensitive. I am guessing they have had this service rejected before. The CT should be optional, not part of a regular consultation and the patient should be made aware of the potential costs. She is a good dentist, but based on this experience, I am not sure I would refer her to others.

I had an emergency effecting a tooth that was previously worked on by another Dr. in that office who was out that day. She was very nice and informative and was able to evaluate that it wasn't a tooth issue but a sinus infection effecting the tooth and tissue. She gave me a treatment for the short term so I could get in to see my primary care physician.
