Dr. Marielena Diakogiannis, DDS

Wonderful! She explained everything thoroughly after a careful examination. She took her time. She ran about 10 mins behind but the sign her waiting room stated she doesn’t rush through appointments. When a patient is in her chair they receive her undivided attention. I actually prefer that. This is a second opinion for me and it was night and day. I understand periodontal disease and the treatments recommended. She took the time to educate me whereas my initial consult with the other specialist left me with so many questions. I am schedule to start treatment with her in two weeks. Feel comfortable that I am in the right hands.

I saw this dr. on Jul 28, 2020 for a consultation for gum disease. My general dentist wanted me to come & visit one of their hygienists, who once treated me some ground antibiotics. This time I had pain & bleeding on the upper left jaw, so I thought that I had to consult with a experienced periodontist. So, i explained the condition to Dr. D, as she called herself. She was attentive to my concern, examined me and said that I had bone loss and she recommended me to have a surgery to fill in the gap under a bridge with artificial bone. Then, she said, I might need some adjustment of the bridge, which I had it some more than one year ago. I was very concerned and decided to see another periodontist for a 2nd opinion. The doc's assistant Tara said that she would request a preliminary approval from my insurance Healthplex and would let me know. After a week or so, I told her to send me 2 x-rays provided to them from my general dentist. Tara said "OK", but she never sent them to me.
