Dr. Rico Short, DMD

My dentist referred me to Dr. Short. I would not recommend Dr. Short. During my visit, Dr. Short was rude and the atmosphere was unfriendly. Dr. Short has poor customer service and manners. I had x-rays done for $125. Dr. Short saw an issue but didn't explain it. He suggested another x-ray costing $300. Without insurance, I questioned the necessity. He rudely interrupted me and didn't answer if he could treat me after the second x-ray. He suggested seeing a periodontist and rushed me when he learned I lacked insurance. Dr. Short then escorted me to the front, told me to scan a barcode for insurance, and walked off without concern. I definitely would not recommend him to anyone, and I will not be going back!

Extremely unprofessional dentist and office. I accidentally went here because my insurance company had him on the list and I assumed he was recommended by my dentist but he was not. He ran 50 minutes late for the appointment with no apology. A patient came out in distress and was given pain meds in front of everyone. Dr. Short spent more time talking about his 'credentials' and accomplishments rather than connecting with patients. He was a very angry person. I left and am seeing another Endodontist.

Horrible bedside manner. Spent a lot of time talking about his past glories and “credentials.” Not focused on making the patient feel safe and comfortable. Old/outdated office. Unprofessional staff.

I am, like I suspect many people, very apprehensive when having any dental work done. However, I was put at ease very quickly by Dr. Short and his staff. Dr. Short thoroughly explained the work that needed to be performed and my options. He allowed me to ask questions and patiently answered each question. He performed a retreatment of root canal. I was somewhat fearful of the novocaine injections that I suspected that would be needed for the roof of my mouth, but much to my surprise the 2 shots that I needed involved zero pain! Dr. Short also makes you as comfortable as possible during the procedure and even has a TV to watch overhead. He also explains what he is doing throughout the treatment, so there are no surprises. Afterwards, Dr. Short asked me to call if I had any issues and even offered an after hours contact number. I had my work done just before the weekend and to my surprise, Dr. Short personally called me on Monday to check on me. I would highly recommend Dr. Short!

I was sent to Dr. Short for a root canal procedure by my dentist. Every one working there is warm, friendly and professional. Their routine is very organized.Dr. Short explained the procedure thoroughly. He performed a nerve block and I felt no pain during the procedure. I was given post procedure pain medication and instructions. I rate my care by all involved as excellent.

Dr. Short and his staff were very professional and courteous. I was in need of having a procedure performed on two teeth. One tooth in particular was a challenge for Dr. Short to address. Dr. Short explained the procedure in detail to me beforehand. He ensured I understood the potential difficulty in successfully completing the procedure. After the difficult root canal was indeed successfully completed Dr. Short contacted me personally to verify if I was well with no pain. I told him all was well and thanked him for the incredible job he did. His office staff communicated to me on my initial visit of the cost of the two procedures, how much my insurance company would potentially cover and the amount of OOP I would need to pay. I very highly recommend using Dr. Short for your dental needs. He and his staff are the best!

Dr. Short was wonderful. I did a root canal with a lot of infection and gave me drugs to keep me from being in pain. I called and checked up on me. I would recommend him

I would like to thank Dr. Rico Short and his team for a pleasant experience yesterday. Dr. Short was very thorough with his explanations of the procedure he would follow to complete my root canal. Dr. Short and his assistant worked together seamlessly in a manner that put me at ease and was very focused on completing my root canal. The music was relaxing as well as the TV on the ceiling. Yes! I got to watch my favorite TV station, HGTV, while having a root canal. Once he numbed my gums, this was a painless procedure. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Short and his team!

Dr. Short and his staff were professional, caring, and compassionate. The care and service were excellent! They got me scheduled immediately and Dr. Short and his staff were simply amazing! He personally called me after my procedure to check on me. That is unheard of in healthcare! Simply the BEST!

Dr. Short and his staff provided awesome customer service. I received prompt service from the time I walked in the door. After completing paperwork, I waited no more than 10 minutes. Dr. Short came right in the room and explained what will take place. During the procedure I had no pain whatsoever. Dr. Short and his staff are amazing. I am very happy with the service and care received. The day after procedure, Dr. Short personally called to see how I was feeling. Thank you!

My dentist recommended Dr. Short for a root canal due to pain I was experiencing from crown work. During the procedure, Dr. Short numbed my gums and immediately started going to work. At the time, I was VERY apprehensive because I didn't think the medication had kicked in but quickly realized I was feeling absolutely ZERO pain throughout the entire process. He and his staff were very friendly, accommodating and explained things well. Highly recommended by me.

Dr. Short was referred by my dentist and is board certified, both indications that he is very good. He was able to save my tooth with a root canal rework and it’s been about 6 months and I am doing great. I was very impressed that he took the time and care to do all of the work with hand files which he explained was a safer approach. I am convinced that he is both an expert and dedicated to doing his best for the patient. He will be my first choice in the future.

I was referred to Apex by my dentist, and was horrified by the service I received from the office staff and Dr. Short. I asked to speak with the office manager and was refused. I asked how to contact Dr. Short directly and was refused again. Minutes later I received a phone call from Dr. Short. Dr.Short yelled at me for 3 minutes and before I could even get a word in, hung up on me. I would not refer my worst enemy to this office or to Dr. Short.

Dr Short was knowledgable, professional and gentle. All the qualities you want in an endodontist.

My 15 y/o was suffering from a gradually worsening toothache for about 2 weeks. No OTC pain meds helped. In fact, I took her to urgent care as well as the ER since it would be 2 more weeks before her dentist appt. After leaving the ER, I searched online for a pain-free Endodontist when I found the great reviews about Dr Short. Please believe everything good you've heard. Per my daughter Mom, he was so gentle. I didn't feel a thing. Even w/o ins, he is worth his weight in gold!

While Dr. Short is a good Endodontist, the conversation between he & his assistant during my procedure was unprofessional. Professionals should never discuss religion or politics while in the presence of a patient/customer. You never know who you have in your chair!
