Dr. Ellman is the director of hip arthroscopy and a founding member of the International Center for Hip Preservation at Sky Ridge Medical Center in metro Denver, Colorado. Dr. Ellman completed his orthopedic residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. As a resident, he published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters focused on cartilage biology, biochemical pathways involved in osteoarthritis, and orthopedic surgical techniques, and was awarded the American Academy of Orthopedics Baxter Healthcare Scholarship for his research in hip preservation. Dr. Ellman also participated in sports team coverage for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox. Following residency, Dr. Ellman completed a one-year fellowship in sports medicine and hip arthroscopy at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. During this time, he trained under world-renowned surgeons in the field of hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, and traveled to Chile and Austria as the team physician for the United States Alpine and Boardercross teams. He currently serves as a consultant team physician for the United States Olympic Ski and Snowboard teams as well as Denver University athletics. In addition to his substantial contributions to the written literature, he has presented more than 100 abstracts, video presentations and surgical techniques at national and international meetings.
