I am an obstetrician-gynecologist with interests in prenatal care, contraceptive management and infertility. I knew from an early age that I wanted to become a doctor. I enjoy my position as an OB-GYN because it gives me an opportunity to provide care and form relationships with women from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. I am fluent in Somali and know some Spanish, which helps me connect with more patients to help them feel comfortable communicating and sharing with me. My practice is a collaborative effort. I am passionate about improving the patient experience during gynecologic physical exams with a trauma informed approach, as well as low and high-risk obstetrics, sexual health and contraception, LGBT care, and minimally invasive surgery. My overall approach to medical practice is centered on patient autonomy, education, and empathy.

I like the diversity of an ob-gyn practice. My work with patients covers primary care, internal medicine, surgery and of course, typical ob-gyn care. I am an advocate for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) and my specialties include minimally invasive surgery and high-risk pregnancies. I'm a good listener and I make sure to take all the time needed with my patients. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, swimming, hanging out with friends and traveling. I am a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and the Loni Burnett Cancer Society.
