During both his residency and fellowship, he also spent time working on and patenting a wound care device and continued to be involved in entrepreneurial work in the healthcare field. Immediately after completion of his fellowship, he spent several weeks abroad in Central America and Europe studying under pioneers in the field of peripheral nerve and arthroscopy before returning to Philadelphia to join his former mentors and colleagues at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center. Dr. Miller's clinical and research interests include upper extremity trauma, brachial plexus and peripheral nerve repair, as well as wrist arthroscopy and wrist injury. Dr. Miller also enjoys donating his time and raising funds for medical mission trips in central and South America, where he has made numerous mission trips, a passion that he will remain involved with during his career. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Miller enjoys creative writing and playing competitive tennis and soccer. He is also an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

James S. Raphael, MD, is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and Director of the Hand Surgery Program at Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Raphael specializes in the treatment of chronic and traumatic conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow.
