I married my high school sweetheart who attended NCSU. I attended East Carolina University for medical school and had my first two children during this time. I did my residency in Charlotte, lived there for four years and had my third child during my last year of training. She was born prematurely after a very high-risk pregnancy, which has helped me to see close-up the challenges that some of my patients encounter. \n I believe I'm a better doctor because of that experience and am thankful that my daughter is thriving and healthy today. \n I enjoy being on the water, reading supernatural romances, running in races with my kids (when my hip is behaving) and traveling and experiencing new cultures and foods. I have traveled to Guatemala several times throughout my career and try to schedule regular medical mission trips.
