Dr. Awad pursued his graduate medical education in the United States. He completed his internal medicine residency program in Detroit at the Wayne State University / Detroit Medical Center, where he also served as a chief resident. Dr. Awad pursued his cardiology fellowship training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he also served as a chief fellow. His dream to pursue the highest level of training in the field of cardiac ablations, particularly the treatment of ventricular tachycardia, was realized when he joined the prestigious cardiac electrophysiology fellowship program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Awad joined faculty at the University of Alabama in Birmingham as an assistant professor where he continued to advance his research and teaching mission. Dr. Awad practiced at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for almost a decade where he developed a nationally acclaimed program for complex ablations. Dr. Awad published several papers in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and presented his work in prestigious journals and professional conferences.
