Juan Ortiz, MD is a board-certified transplant surgeon. Dr. Ortiz's clinical interests include liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, as well as hepatobiliary surgery. He is interested in health outcomes research, particularly in health care disparities. Dr. Ortiz is also interested in surgical resident and medical student education, and he was awarded the Resident as Teacher Award as a transplant surgery fellow at Northwestern. Dr. Ortiz received his Medical Degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Afterwards he joined the University of Arizona where he served as the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery in addition to his role as the Director of Hispanic Transplant Program. He has presented a wide range of research at various academic medicine gatherings, and he participated in Harvard Medical School's Visiting Research and Internship Program.Before joining North Texas Surgical and Transplant, Dr. Ortiz completed a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Washington.
