Ruined my credit score

I sent thousands of dollars in payments for work done. Over a year later I ran my credit to find out Advanced Ear Nose & Throat turned me in for collections over a payment of just a hundred bucks I never received. I have not changed my phone number, email address, anything. It is obviously poorly run to send something so small to collections without even calling.
