During my bilateral mastectomy w/ immediate reconstructive surgery, Dr. O'Toole put direct implants in despite noticing part of the skin was questionable to survive. The very next day, I had ischemia on both breasts. I had another surgery to have the implant, matrix, dead skin removed before the necrosis took over my entire breast. This doctor likes to hear himself talk and somehow believes he can relate to a young cancer patient. At follow-up visits, he told me my skin and recovery was in "God's hands". He made me feel like a guinea pig as he stated things that he and the breast surgeon should do differently for the next patient. An expert in this field (as he claims on his website) should not have made me feel this way. His next plan for corrective surgery did not match what was recommended by two reputable UPMC and John Hopkins plastic surgeons. They both said that what Dr. O'Toole suggested would fail. This surgeon is a disgrace to the Pittsburgh medical community.
