She also served as a member of the NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Blood Utilization Committee. An accomplished academic researcher, Dr. Hemmerdinger has published in peer-reviewed journals, most recently on the topic of universal screening for SARS-CoV-2 infection among pregnant women. The recipient of multiple awards and honors, Dr. Hemmerdinger has been awarded the NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst's Elmmy Award, honoring exceptional service and care to patients. Passionate about training physicians, she also received the 2014-2015 Medical Student Teaching Award for outstanding teacher of obstetrics and gynecology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, as selected by the medical students.
