Neglectful Care and Administrative Nightmares
I visited my sleep specialist in April due to worsening sleep apnea, which has developed complications like AFib and PVCs. My cardiologist suggested another sleep study. However, the clinic's administrative process was disappointing. The insurance request they submitted was incomplete, missing crucial medical details, leading to a denial. Efforts to resolve this through the clinic were met with constant voicemails and no follow-up. Their lack of communication and urgency in handling my serious health issues has been frustrating. I am now seeking a new specialist. I advise looking elsewhere for reliable sleep health management.

Very disappointed
They will prescribe a medication that you CANNOT get in El Paso, being they only work 4 days a week if there is a complication with said medication don't bother calling, they claim all their voice mail is full. Being the medication I need is for seizures I'll have to wait until Monday if I don't end up hospitalized by then. Very unconcerned for a 'professional'. Oct 2nd, 2023, Here's an update to my first review, I called the Drs office and complained to the Pharmacist about the medication that isn't available anywhere, after some back and forth I was told that I can drive the roughly 40-mile round trip to the office and pick up some samples, mind you I have been without my seizure medication for 3 days now. That would put me and the general public in danger of me having a seizure while driving. After this discussion I tried calling the office directly and they wouldn't answer the phone I was told the front desk wasn't available, this was 10:30 am. Unbelievable for a 'professional'.

The Covid/RSV/Influenza/Norovirus protocol is nonexistent. This is not a good practice for immunocompromised patients.

Aamr Herekar isn't as great as he may seem.
He thinks his first guess is the right answer, unfortunately. I had an emu to determine how my epilepsy was but it was cut three days short because of plumbing problems. Not only did he say "I don't think you're epileptic." because of TWO days Just monitoring me sitting in a bed, after I have been having them since I was a baby, but they didn't even try to test them out by sleep deprivation, strobe lights or anything. His staff cracked jokes that I'm "the one with the weird heart." because apparently my irregular heartbeat and arrhythmia were offputting to them. I laughed it off but that actually is not funny. The staff member who had to take me home at night offered me weed and asked if I wanted to come to his place to smoke and I was scared and uncomfortable on the way home because I remembered I had a nightmare about him the night before. I asked the dr he gave me to if I could have narcolepsy and this dude looks me in the eye and said "Well you're looking at me and talking so no."

Finding neurologists here in El Paso can be challenging. I went to see Dr Herekar to help with visits to maintain prescription refills. On my visits he would ask questions and I would answer truthfully, sometimes due to weather or stress I can feel a little dizzy. He would increase the strength of my medications, instead of asking more about what was the root cause of the trouble. I quit seeing him immediately after I realized what and how much I was taking. This was unacceptable.

The Doctor and his assistant Elizabeth are brilliant. The rest of this practice are a bit overwhelmed so it is up to the patient to keep them on point. It's hard mid-Pandemic to decide much of anything and if it sounds like I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, I am.
