Refused Care
I was seen by Dr. Haigh at the hospital in Nags Head in the Outter Banks.Personable? Not really. Arrogant? Yes. Name dropping Duke would have been inspiring if he’d actually done his job which was to perform an emergency appendectomy on me. Instead he offered me a PICC line and some antibiotics with a 60% chance of needing surgery anyway. Instead I rode in an ambulance for 2 hours in the middle of the night during a tropical storm to another hospital where I did have an appendectomy and didn’t die. That’s not hyperbole. My appendix ended up being gangrenous on top of being ruptured. Antibiotics wouldn’t have done anything. Is Dr. Haigh good at his job as a general surgeon? Maybe when he performs surgeries. Is he thorough? No. Useless? Very much so. I wouldn’t recommend him if my life depended on it. Which it did.
