Do not visit Dr. Alcaraz
Dr. Alcaraz dropped me after the first visit. The secretary called me, telling me that the visit was actually an error, and then put me with another Doctor. I didn't even know why he dropped me until my new doctor looked at Dr. Alcaraz's notes about me. Dr. Alcaraz was 'uncomfortable with my psychiatric history'. So, because I have depression and take meds, he just dropped me. Dr. Alcaraz isn't a good doctor and couldn't care less about you, especially if you have a psychiatric condition. Please, just pass on Dr. Alcaraz and choose a better doctor.

Just don't
If you're 'overweight', even by the slightest, don't go here. He pushes the weight loss clinic, and if you don't want to, he will find a reason to discharge you. And he will discharge you by snail mail, not even the the common decency of a phone call or even a message through the portal. Left me high and dry on my maintenance medications. He does not care.

Not happy with Dr Alcraz.
Every time I need to see him never an opening have to go to the walk-in doesn’t prescribe the medicine needed for cholesterol made me wait two years. When I want a urinalysis redone I have to make an appointment. He won’t just make out lab order so I can get it done. Then he might need to see me if it’s positive.

While I actually found Dr. Alcaraz quite wonderful as a human. I met him once to see if I could be on board with him as a new PCP for me. He could have been a good doctor, but I will never know. The Medical group itself is horrible. I worked hard to ensure records for my complex medical needs were sent there, as well as filling out their forms in advance and mailing them. They had nothing. I waited 48 mins to see the doctor to find out they knew nothing about me. Then spent 10 minutes with him before he left. And even though it is steward the same network as my former PCP. I had to sign onto my own personal patient portal on my phone to give them info, etc. Then was offered a vaccine they didn't have. So all and all I won't be returning there and Hawthorn medical group is really only for people who are ok being treated like a number, not an individual. I was very disappointed.

You always seem rushed, and he's not the easiest guy to talk to. I attribute much of this to the Stewart/Hawthorn Medical which is a bit of a factory. Lots of tests done all of the time and you have to circle back and make sure you get the results, because often you will not get a call. Then you have a secretary trying to interpret your lab results. Moved to another practice after a year. I experienced the same kind of service from the other specialists at Stewart/Hawthorn.
