Caring and compassion and a love for his practice
I came to Dr Abodeely with very bad stomach issues and hemorrhoids and I was very nervous for the procedure. I spoke to Dr Abodeely before the procedure and he put my mind at ease. After the procedure I did not have the best care as the nursing staff did not know what the OR had actually done to me. There were no notes and all I was told was there were stitches and the Dr did not see me afterwards which I thought was strange as any other time after procedure I was spoken to by the surgeon. I did have to take the pain medication for 2 days and then went to regular acetaminophen to not cause constipation and I can live with the pain and I find comfort and relief from sitz bathe. I still have a follow up but I know I will heal quickly and I know my surgeon is a world class quality Dr. and he is very cordial, kind, and compassionate.

One week ago today this man operated on my wife. The negative things others have said seems to be true. They told us one thing before surgery then something completely different the day of surgery then nothing at all after surgery. To this day we still don’t know what he has done to her. His office specializes is creating chaos and undo stress. To say they are mismanaged is probably an understatement. They have been NO HELP at all since the surgery. This week has been a nightmare! All they have done is add to our stress. Do yourself a big favor and stay far away from this office. You can thank me later.

Dr. Abodeely took me on an emergency basis on Friday morning and fixed my surprise hernias with laparoscopy and superglue by Friday evening. He was kind, knowledgeable, efficient, warm, witty, skilled, and understanding. Having unexpected surgery is not the ideal way to end a vacation in gorgeous Saranac Lake, but if you have to, I cannot recommend wonderful Dr. Abodeely, beautiful little Adirondack Hospital, or its friendly staff more. I was in agony and now I’m fine. Thank you for the TLC. I hope never to have to see you again.

I'd trusted the specialist, but I should not have. Not in this case! Ten months after my laparoscopic cholecystectomy, my symptoms, never "typical," are still so much worse than before, that I wish it were possible to "undo" the surgery. A new, painful hernia + back injury while in OR & dramatically worse belly pains, nausea, vomiting and bowel problems, were all disregarded even after PCP's re-referral. No follow up! He'd said gall bladder removal offered a 90% chance of relief. NOT SO!

I believe that he is professional and competent. His office does not possess good organizational and record keeping skills and their customer service is terrible. I had questions on my last procedure that no one in his office could/would address adequately needing to follow up with him. I never heard back until I had my insurance company call him. Their lack of decent record keeping caused a routine procedure to be processed as non-routine, costing me, literally thousands of dollars.

Dr. Abodeely is not the MD who you want as your provider as he has a hard time remembering what he told you the last time he spoke with you & as a result, you feel like you're being lied to. His bedside manner is far from kind and even if you're not on a HMO(Hurry Me Out) Plan, Dr. Abodeely has no time for patients who refuse to go home less than 24-hrs after being in the ICU for multiple days. If you need a surgeon with great post-op care & compassion, ask to be seen by Dr Michael Hill @ AMC !
