My situation w pituitary microadenoma an 5 years of no help from Endocrinologists w a thyroid hormone disorder/ debilitated has been very disheartening. First time meeting Dr. Mamelak via video appt., re adenoma. Due to the poor doctors I have met, (I study medical), I thought with his strong back ground in pituitary I would receive more information than I heard. When your Pituitary and Hypothalamus do not function, it's a serious issue and abnormal). I'm looking to understand my situation ..

DBS Patient from the capital of Turkiye, Ankara
Dear Dr.Mamelak,I have gone through the comments and recommendations about you. Unfotunately, I could not come across your e.mail address. I have been an essential tremor patient since I was 18 year-old. I have been operated twice by a neurosurgeon in Turkiye and now, I need your priceless advice about my condition.

I was grateful for how quickly I was able to get an appointment and drove in from out of town to see Dr. Mamalek. He was dismissive and without even asking more history or waiting to receive more records he told me I don't have acromegaly and that my tumor was "incidental". I can only assume that's because I'm a petite Asian woman. Despite describing all my symptoms and showing the images he told me I should never get operated on. My IGF1 level is 2 SD above mean and increased further on recent studies. I won't be returning to Cedar Sinai and would never recommend anyone to see this surgeon especially if they are not presenting with very classic textbook appearance and numbers. Cure rates are higher when the GH levels are lower at diagnosis. Instead of allowing people to think they are wrong or should suffer longer with more complications your center should be at the forefront of research and technology
