Bad Advice
My experience with Dr. Nehra was unsettling. After reviewing my diagnostic test, he recommended surgery. The surgery is extensive and costly, with several pre- and post- surgery visits, the surgery itself, and weeks of recovery and inactivity. When I asked about other options, he was dismissive. At first, I went along with his recommendation and scheduled surgery. However, upon reviewing the diagnostic report I discovered that my issue was described as “borderline”. Doing some research showed several alternatives less invasive than surgery, so I got a second opinion. The new doctor reviewed my case and recommended starting with the least invasive option: medication. Remarkably, my issue resolved in a few days. A third opinion, agreed with the second. Had Dr. Nehra provided a more balanced recommendation, it would have spared me weeks of anxiety, reviewing the diagnostic report myself, researching alternative options, extra doctor visits, and a delay in resolving my condition.

Very pushy and would not provide evidence
I did not like Dr. Nehra. He was pushy and rude. In addition, although I got a penile ultrasound done during an appointment with him, he never shared the ultrasound images with me and never posted them to my online portal no matter how many times I asked him to....His office staff is also really tough to get ahold of.

I met by virtually today for the first time. He was 50 min late. He did not apologize and blamed me of not having my mic on, but it was his computer. An assistant helped him figure it out. Then he asked me what I wanted. I explained my concerns and my current medication and history. He told me something about ending up with a deformed __. I was taken aback and I don’t remember why he said this. Then he immediately told me I needed injections. No explanation or if there were any risks involved. No alternatives. This is my first time writing a review for any doctor. I found him almost rude. He kept holding his head in his hands. I asked him if there was anything else and he pertly said he gave his diagnosis and that was it. The meeting was probably about 15 min total. I will not go back.

Fantastic Experience
I've seen Dr Nehra 6 times in the last 4 years, once in the emergency room. I've been testing with a very high PSA result, and the doctor has been wonderful. Having has two negative biopsies in 4 years (not from Dr Nehra's recommendation), we've been keeping a very close eye on my prostate, including two 3 T MRI's this year alone, also both negative. Dr Nehra (Ajay) has a wonderfully empathic "bedside" manner, shows patience for his patients. The negative reviews here are truly mystifying, to me?

Big disappointment
Disaster. He does not know anything about the research that he publishes. Should not be a clinician. He should not be treating patients. He did not take my situation seriously at all, despite obvious physical manifestation of a problem. I would strongly recommend you find a different doctor.

He does not know anything
He just kept staring at the computer and barely asked me any questions. He doed not seem to know much. I would be careful listening to his advice. Waste of time. See someone who cares.

Terrible experience
I have an appointment (virtual visit) this morning (April 22, 2022). I received a reminder from Patient Gateway April 19 for today’s appointment at 11:20 AM but yesterday (April 21) I got another email to change the appointment from 11:20 to 7:00 am. I was shocked and confused. I thought it was a technical glitch of the computer. I called his office for calcification. One gentleman answered the phone, saying that he called me and left a message. I told him, I never got the message. I asked him that I wanted to talk to his manager. He told me it was 4 pm, the manager had left. He told me that the manager could call me from 8:00 to 8:30 this morning. I waited and waited, so far, I have heard nothing back from his office. I was very disappointed. I wish this kind of incident will never happen to other patients in the future.

Dr. Ajay Nehra, at MGH Boston, has been my Urologist from 2019 to this day (09/2021). Dr. Nehra has provided excellent medical care, has been very patient during our appointments explaining diagnosis, treatments, surgical procedures and next steps. I had been a patient of Urologists in two Boston hospitals for a couple of years prior and choose to continue my journey with Dr. Nehra. Kudos and thank you to Dr. Nehra and his team.
