After almost a year of meeting with a local Newburyport orthopedic about my arthritic knees, I felt I was running out of options to continue enjoying active life doing things like rowing, walking and hiking. Yet- my local surgeon couldn’t communicate why— if both knees showed the same amount of arthritis —only one was painful enough to warrant a full replacement. On a recommendation from a friend, I made an appt with Dr Sastry. After a look at my previous MRI and X-rays, he ordered X-rays of my knees showing sides- and communicated the issue clearly and with added evidence. He explained why I was the perfect candidate for his surgery technique using Mako Robotics with excellent prognosis of my being able to get back on the trails and in the scull in 2-3 months. He seemed genuinely sincere at understanding my pain and frustration. 7 weeks out, my flexion has returned to just shy of what it used to be and I am planning with confidence my first hike!

Dr. Sastry exudes extreme confidence. After months of glute, groin and hip pain with no resolution I was concerned my hip might be causing the pain. I went to see Dr. Sastry for a second opinion and he quickly confirmed that my hip joint was fine, and pain was likely bursitis. I am grateful for a Dr who does not rush to a surgical solution.

I had such a positive experience and outcome by having my hip surgery with Dr. Sastry. He is a surgeon who is not only excellent in the operating room, but very personable and communicative in the office visit. I was fortunate to be able to have my surgery at the outpatient center there by his clinic and had an exceptionally positive experience and outcome at the surgery center as well! The staff was knowledgeable and caring.

I had a partial knee replacement by Dr. Sastry on June 3rd. The initial visits to plan my surgery were comprehensive and left me no doubt that I’d found the right surgeon for my procedure. That surgery in Portsmouth went very well. I recently had my 2-month recheck and both the Doctor and I were pleased with my progress! I live in Vermont and, while it is a long drive over and back, I feel that I got the very best care possible with Dr. Sastry. Very highly recommend him without any reservations!
