We went to him because of severe stenosis in the cervical area. Unfortunately, we didn't have insurance. He told us that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the cervical area and that the diagnosis he would give is ALS!! This was untrue and surgery with another doctor ensued shortly thereafter, but we went months and months thinking a death sentence has been pronounced because he didn't have the intestinal fortitude to tell us that he won't deal with patients that have no insurance. I could have respected that pronouncement from him, but he lied and led us to believe that ALS was the only reason for the issues being experienced. I would never, ever tell anyone to go see him. He doesn't care about patients at all. That much is certain.

#1 NEUROSURGEON - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I am 100% satisfied with the care that I received from Dr. Appley and his team at OLGC Neurosurgery. Mary Manuel, his assistant, is excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Alan Appley to anyone in need of a neurosurgeon. HE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST! I WILL ALWAYS REMAIN GRATEFUL TO HIM.

Quick to cut but horrible follow up after surgery.
Hard to get in to see him. Once you are there very short time spent answering questions. Had major surgery and then he left the state to go elsewhere and never provided PT or another Neuro that would continue care.

I was in an accident and injured c5-6 and c6-7 in my neck in 2012 and in 2015 Dr. Appley went out of his way to take me as a patient and was the only doctor between Houston and New Orleans at that time that could do a 2 level mobi C artificial cervical disc replacement. The surgery went perfect hardly any scares and the recovery time was minimal with hardly any pain. The results have been amazing 4 and a half years later I still feel like I am back to normal. I was 10 times stronger in my left arm instantly. The movement is incredible and so much more than if I would have had a fusion and it greatly reduced the chances of other levels going bad. I also suffered a back injury between L3-S1 three Lumbar levels and he will definitely be my surgeon for that fusion which is the only option I have because of it being 3 levels and a fractured spine at L3-4. He is the best Neurosurgeon around. I Thank God for having Dr. Appley!!!

After viewing my MRI, Dr. Appley saw right away that I needed fusion back surgery L4-L5. I had numbness in legs after walking 150 yards, lower back pain and frequent sciatic pain. I had OLIF surgery on Dec. 21 from 4 - 8 pm, I returned to my room at 9.15pm and was walking hall at 12.10 am and was discharged in less than 24 hours. Dr. Appley is very conscientious and concerned about his patients. He took the time to explain and answer any questions. I would trust him in surgery any day.
