Best in his field
I was a patient of Dr Allen Chen's for several yrs. My last visit with him was June 2024. I have several autoimmune diseases, diabetic neurapathy, Fibromyalgia, 2 types arthritis. Pain is a major part of my life. So I know what it can do to you. Unfortunately it requires a lot of work mentally physically and often family and friends don't understand. But, Dr Chen was AMAZING. For me he was a listener. He had great ideas and advice. He isn't a pill popper and or pusher and is honest abt your options. Dr Chen doesn't sugar coat which none of us needs but he has NEVER been rude or neglectful. Pain is rarely a solveable problem when you have certain diseases, syndromes, etc. Don't look for a magic ball. Unless you do the work you won't get relief. And, unfortunately sometimes there's no relief to be had. Dr Chen is the BEST pain, spine, acupuncture specialist I've ever been to.

Avoid
Do not recommend. Like the other reviewer I was demoed, scolded and insulted and near tears by the end of the visit. I have a PPO and can anywhere thankfully. I will not return here and recommend others to avoid. They don't care about you or you getting better. All they want is to push medications and expensive procedures that don't work on you so they can make money off you. You are not a patient but simply a number and dollar sign. I will never return.

Dr Chen uses effective and low risk procedures to treat pain. I have deferred surgery and instead found relief from trigger point injections, radiofrequency ablation along with referrals to physical therapy and chiropractic assessment. Dr Chen is a good listener and explains how the mind and body work together in recommending treatment alternatives. He encourages me to use exercise and reduce stress as well to manage pain.

If I could give Dr Chen 10 stars I would do so. I have been seeing him for over six years for chronic back pain. He has been caring and a good listener. I have received spinal injections and trigger point injections. I have referred several friends to him.

While a competent medical practitioner, Dr. Chen is so insulting, he left me in tears. After seeing how his behavior had affected me, rather than give me an apology for his behavior, he gave me a speech that served as justification for his insulting behavior, Along with a veiled threat of refusing to treat in the future.

Sometimes I feel guilty coming in for a appointment with all the negativity of my chronic pain issues. Dr Chen always makes me feel better with kind words and a professional knowledge of my back and nerve pain. Dr Chen helped me understand the mental side of chronic pain. Both of my parents have passed away in the past 10 months and stress can shoot your pain level up. Dr Chen has given me the knowledge of how to cope with the mental side of chronic pain. Thank you Dr Chen and your awesome staff

I've been a patient of Dr. Chen's for about 4 years now. He's amazing!! Unlike other doctors I've had, he has empathy for his patients. He works hard and does whatever he can to help. He also considers each person's own situation before coming up with a solution. He listens and asks for feedback. I highly recommend him!! He has helped me through so much! He's an amazing doctor and you can tell that he loves his job!

Dr Chen’s treatment of my pain issue has been excellent and has greatly improved my quality of life. When I first went to his office I had severe pain in my neck, right shoulder and arm. I had very little strength in the arm and hand grip. Through his diagnosis of my issues: with minor surgery, epidurals, trigger point injections, physical therapy and massage therapy he has help me restored my abilities to perform my day to day activities with little pain.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Chen?
Dr Chen used to spend a considerable amount of time reviewing a patients symptoms, chronic pain, & listen to the patient. In the past year, Dr. Chen's philosophy on care has changed from focusing on the patients to focusing on the DEA mandates & how sorry we patients should feel that he has to do extra steps for the DEA in order to manage our care. He is a different DR from 2 years ago and I will not recommend his care. He doesn't trust his patients, doesn't listen to their symptoms.
