Great Doctor
Dr Pollak always gets vitals and asks great questions. He doesn't send you for tests right away. Very much like country doctor. Great diagnostician

very attentive specialist
My visit was very short yet Dr. Pollak was extremely attentive doctor; he noted everything that I said and referred me for various testing re. my sudden hearing loss. (unlike the other doctors who want to get rich by having patients coming back and make appointments for each single issue separately). My appointment was very short, yet better than many more with other doctors who seemed to use my age as an explanation for my health issues and claim that everything is "normal" Dr. Pollak's experience and knowledge are of a great value to every patient.

Not a friendly guy
Didn’t want to discuss a and accuses you of things that are not true. He was not interested in helping me at all and is very rough with his procedures.

Dr. Pollak (I use "doctor" loosely) is abrasive, unprofessional and definitely does NOT "advocate an interactive adult relationship between doctor and patient" like his bio suggests. He asked me questions without letting me respond, performed procedures without explaining what they entailed, and gave me no information about what caused my ear complaint. By the end, he said he was going to clear wax from my ear and proceeded to drive a metal rod in my ear repeatedly despite my telling him it hurt, and he not once stopped to address that concern. I drove home with my ear bleeding, and was still cleaning dried blood the next morning. I'm still too afraid to even use the ear medication he prescribed. I am ever thankful that he told me I didn't need to follow up with him again.

I wish I could give this doctor zero stars. He was awful. Extremely rude and unprofessional. He didn’t even check me he had a student exam me. He also said the lump in my neck was most likely cancer and I need a biopsy. I went to a different doctor for a second opinion and they did an MRI and it was my artery swollen. They said if he biopsied that lump he would have killed me because it wasn’t a lump it was my artery.

Waited almost 2 hours, only to be called in for less than 5 minutes, with him out of the room more than half of this time. He was very rushed, didn't bother to listen to the reason why I came in, didn't let me finish speaking, just wrote prescriptions for over-the-counter medicines completely unrelated to the problem, and said to come back in 3 weeks. Was very rude and so was his staff. Despite him running 2 hours behind schedule, he wouldn't allow for rescheduling to another day without charging $200. The fact that he wouldn't even spend a minute to listen to the issue despite the long wait, and then ushered us out so quick without even taking a look, feels like a scam to just bill the insurance for as much as he can without actually doing anything. The positive reviews here are probably from people with better insurance. Don't bother coming here if you value your time or actually need treatment.

Excellent doctor who has treated me for many years. I wouldn't go to anyone else. He is courteous, patient, and he has given me outstanding treatment. His staff is always pleasant to deal with and they do everything they can to make my visits go well. Appointments are easy to get and wait time is usually fifteen minutes or less. Convenient free parking also at both his Skokie and Des Plaines offices. I highly recommend him. Charles G.

Appt was scheduled quickly. I was advised that Dr. was only in certain days at this office. Overall good experience. I think that some people have unrealistic expectations of past, of time spent with Dr. for visit. Good diagnostician dealt with my hearing problem & balance. Did exam. Suggested a hearing test, performed efficiently by his audiologist . Dr. Pollak may not be warm & fuzzy. He doesn't need to be, to find your issue and cure. Staff may be all business but Dr. Pollak recommended.

I had a so-called ‘office procedure’ done back in January, it is now August 20, and I had paid my $30.00 co-pay, calling me saying they are billing me $250.00 and I absolutely refuse to pay this. This is absolutely unbelievable because it was a consultation to see if my nose was obstructed and all he did was take a scope to my nose and looked. This is borderline criminal and fraud. The woman who answered, was not a professional at all. Unbelievable. I am having my insurance fight this bill.

Dr. Pollak is often rushed and very busy. He was late to one of my appointments and sometimes isn't the best at communication. However, he does know what he is doing, and he clearly cares about his patients and making sure they receive the right care. Overall I am glad I saw him.

He mis-scheduled my appt, then he showed up late to the office. So not only did I have to wait over an hour, he rushed thru the visit. I was okay with that BUT 1 month later, I get a message: there's a bill for the "office procedure" I had. When I call back, she says that if he looks at my throat that's called an "office procedure" (no scope, no needles, no tools, no papers to sign, no warning that I will be charged). I already paid the copay! He didn't help me and charged extra for "looking"

Any review above 1 Start for this doctor is definitely paid for by this doctor. Least professionalism by everyone in his office including Alan himself. I firmly believe his license should be suspended for the shady practices used by him and his staff

Unethical , heartless & careless doctor. His assistant is nightmare to deal with. Always very rude & yelling. I saw Doctor Pollak to check on my ear. He ordered CT scan which I completed & went to see my PCP to refer me back to see him again. The PCP's office not only entered the results in the system for him to see, they faxed the referral many times . They hung up on call from my insurance company too.He & his assistants started to play games & eventually refuses to see me for follow up

Dr. Pollak himself is a nice guy, but he literally has the worst office staff of any doctor's office I have ever been to. I went on a Saturday for some reason and his "secretary" didn't even have a computer available for benefits and financial transaction purposes. Nancy with billing is extremely rude. I asked for a receipt and she acted like it was the hardest things she ever had to do. I HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere, simply based on his office staff.

It was probably the worst experience I've ever had. Dr. Pollak refused to provide any services until I paid in cash in advance and later his office issued additional claim for the same consultation not even sent me a bill. Three months later I was informed that they sent my case to collectors. Unprofessional attitude, trying to get maximum money from patients and inability to provide related information that's how I can summarize my experience with him. Wouldn't recommend him at all.
