Dr. Swensen is the doctor to see if you have Dupuytren’s Contracture in Alaska. He uses a procedure called needle aponeurotomy, which is done in the office. I was back in in the gym in less than a week, and the only thing I felt during the procedure was the initial needle pricks to numb the area he was working on. I went back for a 2-week checkup, and that was it. My hand lies flat on the table, and I already can feel more strength returning to my hand. If you have been putting off treatment because you don’t want major surgery or don’t like the idea of injecting stuff into your hand to dissolve the problem, see Dr Swensen. I wish I had done this years ago. Don’t wait.

I was seen on time. Dr Swenson was friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to schedule my surgery and my follow-up appointments while there. This appointment was for a “trigger” finger. I had the procedure done on the right hand by Dr Swenson and was pleased with the results. I am now happy to have him fix the left hand.

Dr. Swenson is AMAZING! He has the best bedside manner and always answers my many questions. I honestly feel well taken care of and that feeling is worth its weight in gold. On time! All staff were polite and friendly and helpful. Dr. Swenson diagnosed my problem quickly. He was sensitive to the fact I was experiencing extreme pain, but needed me to perform an exercise in order to diagnose the problem. He thoroughly explained the options I had to relieve the pain, even surgery if it would have to come to that. I chose the injection and in a few days my wrist was without pain. Thank God!

Great delivery of care by the entire OPA Team involved with my case. Efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Tools (QR codes) made available in the patient room to allow review of common Ortho conditions. Dr Swenson has a lovely bedside manner, listened to my concerns, and addressed the issue at hand. Simply put, Dr. Swenson saved my life! Initially seeking medical attention for a trigger finger, his incredible expertise as a hand specialist lead him to an unusual looking fingernail on my other hand. Insisting on doing a biopsy on that fingernail at same time as my planned surgery lead to my stage 3 Melanoma diagnosis. After multiple surgeries over the last couple months, I am now cancer free! My family and I will be forever grateful to AMAZING Dr. Swenson!

Dr. Swenson was knowledgeable, gentle, empathetic, and very thorough with outlining options for the care of my broken hand. His staff at OPA was very accommodating. I recommend OPA as your first choice for orthopedic needs.
