I do not recommend Dr. Al Cytryn
In September, 2021, I had 4 eyelid blepharoplasties and bilateral upper eyelid ptosis repair by Dr. Al Cytryn. It was the worst surgical experience of my life and a nightmare for many months. Dr. Cytryn used highly inflammatory catgut sutures for most of my surgery instead of non inflammatory sutures. The inflammation was so severe it required three courses of oral prednisone and five months of topical steroids. I am left with disfiguring, elevated, thickened scars in my eyelids. At two months post surgery, I was unable to keep my eyes open past two pm. He removed too much skin in my upper eyelids and my eyes will no longer close completely. At night, I have to put ointment in my eyes and tape my eyelids shut to prevent exposure damage to my corneas with possible loss of vision. I am left with asymmetrical eyelid folds in my upper eyelids. I am under the care of another surgeon who is planning surgery to reduce the exposure. I could not in good conscience recommend Dr. Cytryn.

In 2019, I had both upper and lower blepharoplasty by Dr. Cytryn. Dr.Cytyrn assured me that he knew what he was doing and that it would be an easy and simple procedure. He made the statement that I would also love his work, which gained my confidents. Once the procedure was over, I looked at the stiches he made across my eyes. I was devastated because I knew I had big problems! I was so dissatisfied with Dr. Cytryn surgical skills. The stitches he made across my eyes were not precise and looked like railroad tracks. He cut all the up to my eyebrows. I immediately questioned Dr. Cytryn about why the stitches looked so sloppy? He responded by telling me it was from the swelling. I was told that too much fat had been taken out, and too much skin was cut. Dr. Cytryn removed too much fat and cut away too much skin from my upper eyelids. The asymmetry in my L” and R’ eye are both different, both lower drooping eye (ptosis) which I’m seeking find another surgeon to fix it.

In 2014 I had both upper and lower blepharoplasty by Dr. C. On the initial he told me that it would be easy, and that I would love it. But he never told me about any of the risks. I ended up with a huge lower drooping eye (ptosis) which he couldn't fix. It took me two years to find someone to fix it. Point is if he had told me that I was not a good candidate (flat cheeks) for this type of surgery I would not have done it. He got the money and I got a lot of problems.

I had a blocked tear duct that wouldn't drain, & was causing me to tear constantly. Dr. Cytryn explained the procedure to me in detail and reassured me that it would solve the problem. At the same time we opted for some cosmetics too. He removed the fatty tissue below my eye, and now, years later, I don't live with the annoyance of an eye dripping with tears, and I never look tired! It takes artistic abilities, and extraordinary surgical skills. Dr. Cytryn excels in both. I highly recommend him.

I came to Dr. Cytryn after unsatisfactory consultations with 2 other surgeons. Dr. Cytryn gave me the confidence to move forward with an issue that I had been living with for nearly 10 years. He successfully reconstructed my right eyelid. The results were better than I had hoped. I am 100% pleased with the surgery. Dr. Cytryn went above and beyond, working with me patiently in addressing all my questions and concerns prior and post surgery. I highly recommend him.
