Self centered and unprofessional
Took my brother to an appointment to see Dr. Z. My brother has Down syndrome and he never once asked how he was doing or how he felt. He went over his medication that was 10 years old. I don’t care about his medication from 10 years ago I care about the medication that he is currently taking. He kept repeating himself over-and-over again. I could not ask questions because he was too busy going over medication from years ago. When I asked about my brother‘s medication, he blazingly looked at me and told me “What do you want me to do about it?” Is this guy for real? I could not believe it! I told him he’s the doctor and that’s why we came here. Finally, I could see I was getting nowhere with this man so I got up and left with my brother. This man needs to retire. Will find my brother a more professional and caring doctor.

He is extremely self-centered, every visit he spends nearly the whole time talking about his own life, and when I try to say something he just talks over me. Multiple times I have told him of things that are affecting my depression and he just dismissed my concerns. At one point he blamed me for my condition, saying it was learned helplessness. Another time I brought up how my finances are a cause of my depression and he thought an appropriate response to that was to ask me if I wanted to know how much he made. Additionally, he is nearly always late, sometimes I wait hours after my scheduled appointment before being seen by him. And one time I was five minutes late, and he refused to see me. This is extremely unprofessional, and he honestly doesn’t appear to view my well-being as that important. He also has anger issues, and if you so much as question his judgment he will tell you to find another psychiatrist. Lastly, his comments have made my cry multiple times before. He is terrible.

Dr. Zapata has been my doctor for 7-8 years. He is great. He listens to me and relates. He never judges me. He makes sure I get my medications that I need immediately when I forget and he is not in the office. He is very knowledgeable.

My friend met with him regularly for 8 years. Recently went to scheduled app, the Dr was not in the office, staff did not call to cancel. Was given a new app. date in 3 months. Very upset, felt the need to see Dr. Z sooner. Then staff called to cancel new app. because Dr Z refused any further contact. "If need regular 3-4 month apps he could no longer help". Very unprofessional! Past few yrs. Dr Z spent more time talking about his own "issues".

Dr. Zapata was the first psychiatrist to finally be able to diagnose me. He worked with my family when no one else would. He worked on my complicated case. And finally got me stable. I've seen other psychiatrist's since him that are a bit bette4, but also many who are MUCH worse.

Very self-centered & he has an anger management problem. Can't even ask questions as he rushes you out the door. He is owning looking to make money by parading as many patients through the door as possible. He is also consistently late for appointments. Could care less as to how long patients have to wait. Stay away !!
