Dr. Alexander Chang, MD

I found Dr. Chang to be rude. He wouldn't let me ask questions and he spoke to me with disdain. My new doctor immediately changed maintenance treatment Dr. Chang had me on. What put me over the top to leave his practice is that the staff NEVER answers the phone.

I recently moved to the South Hills area, so I decided to change eye doctors at the referral of med express. My experience was so bad, I decided to just go back to my old doctor an hour away. The staff was lovely and professional, but Dr Chang made me feel like I was going to lose my vision…in my 20’s! He had my eye wide open and kept telling me horrible they looked. He got visibly upset, “are you serious?” because I couldn’t remember my eye prescription. Of course I had my glasses so it took them a couple minutes to find out (which is what they always do anyways.) He said I would likely never be able to wear contacts again and should consider surgery. I left that place crying. Flash forward a few months back with my old doctor and my eyes are fully recovered and back to contacts with time limits. Just go somewhere else. I can guarantee that many many many other doctors in this area have much better bedside manner.

He is very easy to talk with he doesn’t rush you to have surgery he gives you all the information about your eyes so that you know when it’s time to get surgery .Dr Chang is also very honest and caring.

RUDE RUDE, RUDE doctor!!!!! He put down my questions and even forbade me from asking questions about my condition and treatment! Tense, uncomfortable atmosphere. I again dared to ask the questions at the end of the visit (he was intent on not allowing me to ask questions and was going to leave the room without allowing me to ask questions!! Worst bedside manners ever! I am sorry I wasted my money and insurance with him! I will NEVER go back to him!

Please don’t go to this guy. I’ve been struggling with an issue for years and thought going to an ophthalmologist would be better than an OD for once since things haven’t improved. I’ve never been treated so horribly as a patient. From the second I walked in, all my comments and symptoms were disregarded. Rude comments were abound. He even said “you don’t see me complaining!” when I mentioned something I thought could be helpful. Rude and condescending are the only things I can say. I left totally upset and defeated. I can’t believe I wasted over an hour waiting for 10 minutes of pure criticism.

Do not go to this guy. I tried to tell him my side effects from a drug he gave me and he said it was impossible and made other nasty remarks. I have cataracts and told him all I could see at night were other headlights and taillights looking like big stars. He said I didn't have the right kind of cataracts for that and it wasn't time to remove them. That was a year ago. Now the stars have a rainbow edge. I can't drive at night at all.

Dr Chang is one of those doctors that really cares. He takes the time to explain my condition and really listen to my concerns. I have recommended him to all my family members.
