Dr. Iriabarne is remarkable. In Feb. I was informed that my Aortic valve was leaking and needed to be replaced for a second time. at the age of 74 I was not thrilled with that conclusion but Dr. Iribarne was able to convince me open heart surgery was the best procedure for me. His easy manor and clarity of detail eased my mind. True to his word the day after surgery was the worst. every day after got better. He was there everyday after my surgery to check on my progress until the day of discharge. One month after the surgery I was sitting in Carnegie Hall watching my grandson perform with his high school band. Dr. Iribarne even took the time and effort to enlarge my Aorta to accommodate a slightly larger valve so that a Tavr procedure can be used in the future if necessary. Dr. Iribarne deserves 5 stars as well as his amazing office staff and all the care givers in the heart tower. I also commend the diatery staff who were so caring and personable.

I went to my cardiologist knowing something was wrong. Never dreaming that he would be sending me straight to the hospital and go from possible stent to quadruple bypass surgery. No time for 2nd opinions or shopping for the ' best Dr in the world'. I was nervous and scared as it all happend so fast. I was sent immediately to SIUH and met Dr Iribarne at my cardiologists recommendation. I had already been told of his impeccable reputation but after meeting him and spending 2 days talking to him before surgery, his calm and confident demeanor made me feel so much more at ease about what was happening. He truly understood the trauma this was causing me and my family and was sincerely concerned for my state of mind. I made a promise to him that if he got me home I would not complain about any of the pain or rehab that came after. He said ' you have a deal'. And he did just that. I doubt I could have been cared for any better by any Dr or team anywhere else in the world. 4 Ever Grateful!

As soon as my wife and I met with Dr. Iribarne for our initial consultation, we felt instantly at ease. He and his team were incredibly patient will all of our questions and the procedure was successful. After the procedure, the entire staff at the CardioThoracic Unit were incredibly attentive and caring.I was walking 20 laps around the CTU after the operation and out of the hospital after 2 days. This was made possible because of the accomplished career of Dr. Iribarne, being head of the CTU Dept at SIUH, as well as his amazing team.

I want to thank Dr. Iribarne and his entire team and all of the RNs, PAs, Doctors, & PTs at SIUH Heart Tower who cared for me before and after my surgery.Dr. Iribarne’s attention to detail, care, and professional bed side manner are second to none.Dr. You basically saved me from potentially having a more severe heart issue and although I am still only three weeks into my recovery with pain and swelling in my left leg and chest area, I trust your reassuring words that I will start to feel like myself again in a few more weeks. It wasn’t planned. Needed to be cleared for a hip replacement surgery, and ended up having triple bypass surgery from Dr. Iribarne. He was the most calming man. I was in shock when they told me I needed heart surgery. He assured me I would feel much better physically, and be much healthier. He was right. I went into surgery with a calming mind, and reassurance that Dr. Iribarne would fix my heart. Also, his staff is second to none. Everyone was pleasant, and accommodating. I can’t explain why but, there was no anxiety or fear in my mind through my procedure. This doctor has golden hands. Trust me. I witnessed it first hand.

I am a 66 year old man who needed a coronary bypass. Upon a consultation prior to surgery with Dr. Alex Iribarne he clearly explained all the procedures, why it was necessary and what to expect post-surgery. Today is just past 2 weeks post surgery. Pain is almost non-existent, the incision was minimal in length and has nearly completely healed. Stamina is still a challenge, but I feel great and am 100 % confident in my recovery. Both Visiting Nurse and my Physical Therapist have commented on how far ahead than normal I am with my recovery. Office staff is cordial and competent and the medical professionals who are on his staff are also concise in their explanations and create a plan for you upon discharge that is competent, easy to follow and effective. There are no words to thank Dr. Alexander Iribarne for the great surgery he performed. He placed two by passes and one new aortic valve. I cannot deny that I was really stressed about the procedure and how my chest will look after, but it’s amazing how small and clean the cut in my chest is! He told my 30-year-old’s husband, the day of surgery that he wouldn’t perform his surgery that was life-threatening whom has life threating fungus and infection, none it’s breaking off into his other organs and can die, and comes in the morning of surg and he refuses to do the surgery.

I had Aortic Valve Replacement. From the initial consultation through the surgery and post-op follow ups, Dr. Iribarne and his team were sensitive and professional. They discussed the surgery and options in easy-to-understand terms and responded to all questions we had. The surgery itself went flawlessly and his team provided my family statuses as appropriate. Dr, Iribarne and his team continued to provide excellent post-op follow-up in the hospital ensuring I was making progress and any needs I had were met. Post release from the hospital, the excellent attention to detail continued in my subsequent follow-up visits.Overall, any diagnosis that requires surgery is concerning. Doctor Iribarne bought me into his office and educated me on my procedure and by displaying my condition on a screen of my Echo. When a doctor puts your mind at ease with his demeanor, and ability, I new I was in good hands. Most of us looks at major surgeries emotionally , but when Dr Iribarne explained things , a confidence had replaced any worries I had. The procedure went really well and he is a true profesional. He is an amazing surgeon and if you should need him I highly recommend him. The whole procedure was a very good experience for me as I would like to compliment his entire staff for all they did for me.
