I Gave Myself Cancer, Apparently
My optic nerves are swollen, a sign of increased brain pressure. I am a breast cancer survivor, so there is a metastasis concern. I was referred to his clinic. Dr. Zubkov told me that if my body had been healthy, it would have been able to “handle” my cancer and I wouldn’t have gotten it. He also prescribed a diuretic that would “make sweets taste nasty,” insinuating that I had developed cancer because I eat too much sugar. He did not tell me it was a diuretic, nor why he was prescribing it. He also seemed unaware that I have a strong family history of breast cancer as well as a genetic mutation increasing my risk. Furthermore, my neurological issue may not even be related to my cancer, yet he went out of his way to discuss cancer with me, despite not being an oncologist. I left his office more upset and frightened than when I arrived.I do not recommend Dr. Zubkov’s services.

PATIENT BEWARE! I believe Dr Alex Zubkov to be a highly capable neurologist and a physician we sought out for his balance of neuro expertise and holistic approach. That said -- I believe we have been fleeced! PLEASE exercise extreme caution with the tests Dr. Zubkov orders and this practice in general. We paid cash for our visit $527 (bc our insurance was not in-network) and then paid cash for an MRI ($1064) that Zubkov ordered. All reasonable charges for services. The doctor asked - and was highly aware of our payment for services that day. He ordered blood testing -- with our consent but no detail of tests--we had further discussion with him, and assistants Twin and Jolene, re the most economical way to get the blood tests. We received the $4477.00 bill shortly thereafter from Labcorp. I assumed this bill was in error -- it was not! Dr. Zubkov has since refused to see my son (after a spirited exchange on the patient portal) and we’re left with a $4477 bill and NO answers. Victimized

Dr. Zubkov is a brilliant neurologist with a lot of knowledge and a unique and impressive perspective. He may have been the person who could've finally gotten to the bottom of some of my complex issues. Unfortunately his ego gets in the way of his ability to listen or hear his patient's concerns or to even read their medical notes before seeing them. In my case he made incorrect assumptions that he would not have made if he had actually read any of my medical information and refused to listen when I tried to make sure he was making decisions based on accurate information. He was nasty, judgmental, dismissive, lacked common decency and refused to provide further care for me based on his incorrect assumptions. He is easily the most unprofessional doctor I have ever seen. He's proof that a person can have all of the knowledge in the world and still be a horrible doctor. I'd love to see what he could do if he could bypass his ego, read notes and listen. Until that day, run away, fast.

Dr Zubkov is a wonderful, compassionate doctor. He was able to help me with a rare disorder that no other doctor wanted to treat. He has a wonderful holistic approach that I appreciate. I must add his staff is amazing as well.

In the beginning it was wonderful and he actually diagnosed me after many doctors were unable to for a long time but after the first few visits he became dismissive and lacked professionalism. I waiting a long time for an appt and was a few minutes late once and apologized more than once and he called me out on it and acted as if it was intentional, was rude and made me feel horrible for it. For that same appointment he had not reviewed my charts and just “winged” the appt and was so rude and pretty much told me “you will not be healthy until you start taking better care of yourself” (in reference to my weight) all while I’m telling him I and having major issues with my disease, my meds and that I cannot get out of bed during the day as a result.. let alone try to “get healthy”. It was a 5-10 appt that I waited months for to be dismissed the whole time. I left and immediately began to cry. This is just part of it but would NOT recommend!

Perfect!!!! I had a brain hemorrhage. Dr. Zubkov saved me. He was so thorough and professional. His knowledge far surpasses any doctors I had. He made me feel comfort in a very hard situation. After recovery and during recovery, he was always available and always helpful. I would highly recommend him. He was at Mayo before coming to Fairview Southdale. He was my Angel.

Dr Zubkov failed to read medical records prior to visit and if I wouldn't have had hard copies, it would have been a wasted appointment. In subsequent visits, he recorded incorrect information in medical records, including meds. Visits were very short; professional behavior was lacking and while he likely has expertise in his field, we were extremely dissatisfied with his approach and lack of attention to details. We changed physicians.
