Dr. Alexandra Macy, MD

Very brilliant at assessing and identifying and pinpointing patients struggling to figure out problems. And making herself available at nonstandard times, in person or remotely.

I have found Dr.Macy to be professional and knowledgable in her field. She is respectful and patient and never given to sarcasm. Her method of helping you grow as a person is to listen and then guide you in a safe manner to achieve your goals. I highly recommend her as a therapist and as a prescribing physician.

I’ve been to several mental health providers over the years, and I’m sorry to say that Dr Macy was the least effective. Therapy sessions often felt pointless; she listens, nods occasionally, and says things like: “that sounds hard.” There was hardly any discussion, she never challenged me in any way (ex.: try to reframe the way I viewed a situation, whatever), just a lot of “mmhmm” and nodding. At risk of sounding like an over-talker, I’d be sure to stop and just leave silence hanging to see if she’d jump in... it was never more than a few words. Frankly, I could have spent $250/wk to sit in an empty room for the same experience. As I write this, I’m wondering why I stuck it out a whole year.
