Dr. Alexandra Shustina, DO

I have spoken with Dr. Shustina by phone and she gave a talk at an event I ran. Dr. Shustina is extremely knowledgeable and qualified, and a caring, sincere practitioner. She truly cares about her patients’ well-being.

Dr. Shustina is unlike any doc that I have encountered. She assists her patients to be in control of their own health. I am off all medicines and I feel better than I have any years. I have my health back, my stress under control, and i am blessed to have found her!

My visits with Dr. Shustina are really different than any other doctor I have ever seen. She uses an approach which is unique and I have had lasting results with her plan. She is truly invested and cares about her patients.

This was the most thorough appointment I have ever had. The doctor asked about all my detailed issues including life stressors, childhood, and diet. She answered all my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully and I finally feel I have a grasp on the root of the problem.

All I can say is I am beyond impressed. I had my doubts that a holistic approach can be so effective. After being failed by the conventional therapy offered by previous doctors I went to Dr. Shustina as a second opinion. She carefully reviewed all my records and made specific recommendations which were effective and safe. I feel much better and would never go back to the mainstream one size fits all system.

She didn't read any of the forms she made me fill out, and her approximately $700 treatment for my UC consisted of a diet that she appeared to make up as she went along (E.g. no tropical fruits, a tablespoon of flax oil a day, whole lemons including the skin), a recommendation that I start somatic therapy with her, and a condemnation of the fact that I was taking steroids for a severe flare-up. She didn't seem to listen to me much and she was late to the appointment. I wouldn't recommend seeing her if you have an actual diagnosed condition like UC or Chrohn's. I'll save you $700: she'll tell you to refuse any meds and eat a plant-based mediterranean diet. It's reckless and dangerous to tell clients to refuse steroids or biologic meds without offering a viable alternative. Maybe you have to pay more for that, I don't know.

After seeing numerous doctors and have endless amount of tests without any significant results I was kind of skeptical to see Dr. Shustina. I am a former patient of Dr. Shustina and was very unimpressed with my experience. Her assistant was unorganized and gave me wrong information. When I met Dr. Shustina she seemed very absent-minded. Though I was asked to fill out lots of paperwork in advance, she had not read any of it over and quickly went through it during our appointment time - missing lots of details. She didn't listen to symptoms and when following up she recommended a procedure based on specific symptoms that I don't have and never told her I had. On top of that, there were some abnormalities with my blood test results that she missed. I found them myself once I read through the results. Perhaps her practice is worth the cost if your insurance is covering the visit, but mine did not. It was absolutely not worth her out of pocket prices, and my experience left me questioning her expertise and professionalism.

The most knowledgeable gastroenterologist. She gives you all the time so you can understand and apply her recommendations.

Very experienced and knowledgeable doctor. She genuinely cares about her patients. She is always very attentive and right to the point. Her broad medical knowledge in many areas is very impressive. She treats a patient not only a specific organ or disease. I strongly recommend Dr. Alexandra Shustina not only for specific Gastrointestinal treatments but also for prevention and well-being. During the consultation I was very impressed with her attention to details and her ability to go to the depth of the issue.

This is one of the few doctors I can totally trust. She really cares about her patients and has great results. She really takes time and listens. Her recommendations are always well thought out, safe and effective.

I saw Dr. Shustina several times, and I was very impressed with her knowledge, work and dedication to the her clients. Not only wad she working patiently to get to the bottom of the problems, she was actually successful to identify what should be changed. She is a very friendly and caring Doctor who goes above and beyond to help her patients.

I had excruciating stomach pains related to high acidity. I was referred to Dr Shustina who treated me and her treatment removed the pain. She obviously has tremendous expertise in this area as her treatment was simple and effective. And I did not have to go through a lot of tests.

Dr. Shustina is a consummate professional. She listens to my problems, asks pertinent questions and recommends a course of treatment. She follows-up with e-mails and/or telephone calls to make sure that the treatment is working. Furthermore, she is always available for any questions that I may have. The bottom line is that I feel much better than I have felt in years.

She is not friendly at all. I had surgery and she came in late she acted like she have no idea why I was there. She started flipping through the chart. She does not explain anything to you , After surgery I asked the Nurse if the doctor was going to come in to talk to me and she said no she does NOT do that . The office would call me at home. I have never had a Doctor act this way ever. I was sick after and had to go to ER. If you call the office you never get a person .
