Curious and thorough
I have a mysterious disease. I was referred to Dr. Nami by a highly regarded immunologist. He was open and curious about my situation and considered a range of possibilities. He ordered a range of tests but none that were exceptional. He uses a better-than-average lab, with staff on site, that does less common but important tests. He was candid about the outcome of tests, ruling out several things but not conclusive about cause. Perhaps most remarkable, he said 'Treat the patient, not the number,' when discussing results. I have often had the experience of doctors 'treating the number.' The Cherry office is modest and culturally diverse (he speaks several languages). I was pleased to see a doctor caring for all of the community.

I saw Dr. Nami and I'm going to forwarn you, if you need a rheumatologist, this is is not the place, nor is this the doctor. Dr. Nami did not listen to my concerns. I was referred to this office because Dr. Nami "digs deep and will find the root cause," and this statement could not be further from the truth. He ran 5 tests on me, all came back normal, and then he was done. He prescribed medication, but unfortunately said medication is simply a band aid to my symptoms - I still do not have no answer as to the reason I initially came there. But what is more troubling, is the fact that he prescribed 2 medications that cause a sedation effect/no operating vehicles and he refused to write me a note for work. My current employer scheduled me to attend a 10-11pm meeting when I need to be at work at 6am the next day. I called and asked if Dr. Nami could excuse me from this 1 hour meeting and he refused. He put me in a position that honestly is very dangerous as said medication directions state "no operating vehicles." I will be contacting the state of North Carolina regarding the questionable medical services of Dr. Nami and Joint & Muscle Medical Care. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor that is willing to do the work and dig deep.

Very pleased with our initial visit. He listened and ventured to make a diagnosis and plan of treatment that have brought immediate improvement - unlike numerous other doctor visits.

My wife is a patient of Dr. Nami. He seems to be a good doctor, but his staff is very inefficient at following up on calls and getting prescriptions correct! We went out of state to visit a granddaughter who had come home for a visit. She forgot her medicines. She called and asked for a three day supply to be called to the local drugstore. No one ever followed up and we had to cut our trip short! She called about starting back on the medicine when she got home and no one followed up! This is totally unacceptable!

Very caring and compassionate. Throughly explained everything and listened very tentatively. I have been to 3 different Drs, primary care and 2 orthopedic Drs and Dr Nami was able to answer all my questions and diagnose me promptly. I have multiple issues and he was able to get to the root of issues. His Nurse Bonnie and front desk Antonette were great.

Dr. seems quite capable but his staff is NOT. They lack skills that are required by medical practices like keeping appointments and dealing with insurance issues. There soultion was self pay until they can figure it out. this defeats the purpose of insurance and copays.
