This office is a huge money grab. I know there are requirements for regular checkups to continue medications but I was with him for about a year and any time I wasn't able to make the monthly appt I couldn't get refills. This isn't my first such doctor, it's never been so frequent and required. It's not like he's doing anything either, he calls (usually well out of the time frame too, sometimes an entirely different day), he asks how I'm doing, he confirms the prescription and says goodbye. No exaggeration, it's a 45 second call at most, every time. I very recently had to move unexpectedly and my health insurance was no longer valid so I called to see if I could just get one more refill sent in to hold me till I could see a new doc but they absolutely won't do it without me meeting with him, which I'd have to pay out of pocket for since no insurance. Find someone else if your mental health is actually important to you, there is no caring here, pure money grab.

I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy
I have to be honest, Dr. Kaja needs help. My appointments were always less than 5 minutes. I provided Dr. Kaja with proof of my diagnosis from my Dr. in his field only to be ridiculed and dismissed of my condition. I was open and truthful only to be questioned about my education and diagnosis. The bottom line is that he didn't trust me.

Belittled and unheard
Telehealth
I've had approximately 5 virtual visits with Dr. Khaja, can share they have been the least personable. Our calls have always been well under 5 minutes, and I can't get a sentence in with him. I have never felt like he was on the call to hear what I actually had to say, just to check the call off his list and move on. I'm quiet and reserved, but was frustrated that I didnt feel like I was able to express anything to him. When I finally articulated that I didnt feel like the meds were helping, he 'fired' me, and asked I get an opinion elsewhere. I felt so discouraged, disrespected and unheard after that. I'm a very easy going person and treat others very respectfully and left feeling so belittled. This is the first psychiatrist I've ever had an 'issue' with. I started seeing him after my prior psychiatrist retired. Finding a new person.

Very unpleasant and rude. Not recommend.
Telehealth
Very rude. Didn't seem like he read anything on the referral sent to him. Asked me what I was calling about and I informed him ADHD, I believe. And he in essence told me that can't be what I'm calling about. I looked at might calendar and it stated ADHD Assessment Visit. I told him that's what my LCSW said and he said 'She doesn't know what she's talking about.' How can I have him for my Doctor when he knew my primary issues were anxiety. How is he helping? He said he'd send my prescription through and there truly was no discussion, just mail the meds. Glad he did, because that's where I found his name.

Go see someone else
I have always had a difficult time staying focused and constantly getting sidetracked from even the simplest of tasks. Over the last 3 years it has been getting much worse and I feel like it is beginning to affect education (Reason why I made the appointment). Five minutes into the appointment, he told me there is no way I have ADHD because I am in medical school. "If I had ADHD I would have a 2.0 GPA" and that I would not have gotten this far if I had ADHD. 1) I have yet to reach the portion of medical school where you are able to rule out a diagnosis based on a patients education and ignore their symptoms and history. (It's because you don't do that) 2. People with ADHD can be successful. He then tried to prescribe me anxiety medication, even after I told him that I am not anxious. I am afraid of all the other patients who have been denied proper care by him. Doctors like him are the reason why I am in this field.

Frustrating
I am 59 and my counselor, if many years feels that I might have adult ADD. When I suggested that to the Dr. he became aggressive and what to know where my counselor when to school. He dismissed those concerns immediately saying that I would not have gotten as far in life if I had ADHD. I corrected him saying that it was ADD not ADHD. He said they both are exactly the same and the terms are use the same. He also called me sir throughout the whole phone conversation even though I corrected him twice. He said since I am heavy I have sleep apnea and need a CPAP machine. And that is the reason why I feel like I do. He was very dismissive, did not listen to me, obviously, (kept calling me sir), and confrontational. I am really frustrated and do not feel heard. I’m going back to my General Practitioner and try with another Psychiatrist. He also called me Mr. At the end of the conversation.

horrible listener
Dr. Khaja is a horrible listener and speaks over you. He is very rude. He should not be in mental health. Complex mental disorders require empathy and a good listener. I felt worse after my conversation with him. The system needs to screen doctors like him. I felt so let down after my conversation with him. After my appt with him, it made me wonder how many others were let down by doctors like him, that they decided going another route just because doctors fall short and patients become disillusioned. Mental health is not a joke. We come to seek help-only to be placed with a doctor who obviously is disconnected and does not have the passion to treat patients. No amount of education will create concern or compassion for others. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

Meh...
I've only had brief phone meetings with this Dr. He doesn't seem especially interested in patients' issues. His "bedside manner" is lacking in any sense of compassion, or even much interest in listening to the patient's "story". His "solutions" are to freely prescribe meds and get rid of you as quickly as possible.

Held My Prescription Hostage
First, I was given the wrong sleep study test. A sleep study is already stressful, And I have to do it again!! Second, after several phone calls and then involving my primary doctor, I have yet to receive my prescription. A simple request that would improve my health immensely (sleep apnea machine). Dr. Khaja either doesn't care or is incompetent. The only positive experience is the staff has always been courteous.

Not quite
I was optimistic about Dr. Khaja after reading ALL of the reviews. He isn’t as ridiculous as the other IEHP approved control freaks I’ve had the misfortune of speaking to since my unfortunate relocation to this area, but he still wants control over his patients and isn’t interested in helping me maintain the medication regimen approved by my neurologist and cardiologist to keep my anxiety and depression under control that has been a successful combination for years. As with all the other Medi-cal bots, he can’t prescribe Xanax nor any other short acting remedies. He will however attempt to taper said meds at a rate that is far too fast to be taken seriously. It’s sad commentary when those most in need are the ones left floundering. No wonder the suicide rate is so high. I’m not getting any younger and my patience for these antics is gone. I’m pretty sure I will be, too, soon enough. Try harder, Dr. Khaja, as you’re indifference will result in tragedy. It’s only a matter of time.

Disappointed patient – Feb 01, 2022
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Khaja?
Dr. Khaja is incredibly hostile, unprofessional, and lazy. He clearly doesn't want to get to know his patients. I had one appointment with him where he did not ask me any clinical questions about my symptoms, but still felt compelled to tell me I don't have ADHD (which I have in fact been diagnosed with) because I have a Master's degree. When I asked him to explain this he responded with, "I am the professional and you can argue with me all day if you want, but I do not agree with your previous diagnosis". The fact that this man is allowed to interact with people who are suffering with mental illness is actually criminal. He lacks seemingly any empathy or even basic social skills. It's appalling that he still has his license.

Dr. Khaja has an indefensible stance on ADHD. He thinks that one cannot excel academically if you have ADHD. If you have a prior ADHD diagnosis, he will simply ask about your grades. If you've had good grades, he will deny you treatment. Dr. Khaja ignores the fact that people with ADHD are actually overrepresented in academic research settings. He also has a tendency toward misogyny.

I've been a patient now for well over a year. Dr. Khaja & his staff are very professional. With the change in Covid phone visits it has been an adjustment for all of us. Honestly with my anxiety I prefer phone visits. I've not experienced a long wait or any rudeness from Dr. Khaja or his staff. I highly recommend Dr. Khaja. He listens to my concerns and feedback.

I have seen many many Doctors for my mental health and let me start off with all the bad reviews Dr has gotten are mainly because he doesn’t give you what you want and that is what you call A GOOD DOCTOR psychiatrist don’t just give you medication you want or increase your dosage because you said so or because he tells you the truth . Dr has Been by far THE BEST DOCTOR I’ve seen, now his staff on the other hand is a different story there’s only 3 girls and the only good one and the only one I have good things to say is for Alma , SHES THE BEST STAFF most caring and very help not to mention very very friendly. The other two girl need a new job because seems like they hate helping and always give you attitude especially Jackie she should not be there and I believe Marissa is the other girl both need to realize their working in mental health field and learn how to treat the patients or get e new job

The truth – Feb 10, 2021

Absolute worst medical professional I have ever dealt with. He really doesn’t care about the well-being of his patients. All he cares about it getting his money. I am a very patient and understanding person, but I refuse to work with Dr. Khaja ever again. I have given him many chances but he continues to blow me away with how horrendous he treats his patients. He dismissed my needs, and actually has yet to fill a prescription that he promised to a week ago. He is very lucky that I am stable enough to take care of myself. If you have the option, please please please do yourself a favor and see someone else. You should never have to go through what I have gone through with this “doctor”.
