Very knowledgeable. Straight to the point and I would see him again if I needed. Shocked to see such rude reviews from other people..sounds like a personal issue.

Horrible, rudest people I’ve ever met in my life. Nurse is rude and incompetent. After meeting her I don’t won’t to meet Dr. Andrews. My wife was the one with the appointment and they were very arrogant and even worse incompetent. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. Dr. Andrews. My wife went to see them very obonixous

Zero starts. I had to re-enter this review because it was scrubbed from the internet. I do NOT like to give bad reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others of this doctor and practice. Dr. Andrews placed me on a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), despite the fact that he knew I had Raynaud’s syndrome (possible precursor to autoimmune disease) and that I had been unable to tolerate a previous PPI that I was prescribed by another doctor. I had a violent reaction to the previous one. As a gastroenterologist, he should certainly be aware of the clinical trials that have proven PPI’s cause a quadrupled increased risk of triggering autoimmune disease. Because he didn’t believe me and refused to listen to me when I explained how intolerant I was to the previous PPI, he insisted on my staying on the new PPI by using scare tactics (telling me I would die if I didn’t do as he said). I had the same reaction as I did to the previous PPI but stayed on it due to his insistence, and as a result, was disabled with a severe autoimmune disorder. Now I have severe whole body inflexibility, severe joint pain, muscle weakness, dysphagia with food constantly getting stuck in my esophagus, malabsorption with severe weight loss, severe GERD and digestive issues, devastating fatigue, and lung issues, among other things. I lost all quality of life. As if this weren’t enough, this in-network practice never obtained prior authorization for the anesthesia for a procedure that Dr. Andrews insisted that I have. Since they didn’t obtain the prior authorization, the insurance company asked the practice for more information; however, the practice chose not to respond to them but instead to bill me for the entire amount of the procedure. I had only agreed to the procedure because the insurance company said it was covered 100%. Per the practice's contract with the insurance company, the onus was on the practice for obtaining the prior authorization. The practice also did not provide me with a good faith estimate for the charges the day before the procedure as required per the “No Surprises Act” law. I worked with them and the insurance company very kindly and respectfully for seven months to try to get the practice to submit retroactive authorization, but they refused and instead sent a debt collections agency after me without warning right after telling me they would submit the retroactive authorization and asking me to give them another 30 days to resolve the matter. They left me with no choice but to report them to the NC Dept of Justice, the NC Medical Board, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Dept. of Managed Healthcare. It was only because of the Dept of Justice that they finally relented and corrected the bill.

Poor bedside manner. Questionable guidance
Would not see again. Following a colonoscopy, He advised my husband stop taking Mesalamine, which is an Anti-inflammatory medication. This was prescribed for Crohn’s disease intestinal blockages. When I explained to the doctor that without this medication, my husband visits the emergency room twice a year for intestinal blockages. He dismissed this and stated the med has the effect of a placebo for Crohn’s disease; That it is only effective For ulcerative colitis, according to clinical studies.. his manner was condescending, and he did not address the benefits we have observed since starting the medication. We do not understand why he would not take seriously our observation about the benefits of this medication.. The doctor who initially prescribed the drug, 15 years ago, and the many doctors since then, understood why this drug was necessary to prevent my husband’s intestinal blockages from Crohn’s disease and removal of part of his colon..

If I could give this guy zero stars I would!
This doctor has zero bedside manner. Endoscopy and colonoscopies can be nerve racking procedures and he doesn’t exude even the tiniest bit of warmth when he introduces himself. The second issue I had was his unwillingness to entertain any conversation or questions after my procedure. He diagnosed me with IBS. When I explained I had lost 27 pounds in two months and had a history of internal hernia he insisted that he believed I had IBS and sees many woman have unnecessary surgeries to remove every organs in their bodies when they could just take the opportunity to get their constipation and diet under control. Less than a week later I had a emergency surgery at Duke for an internal hernia. A decent doctor would have at least listened to what I had to say took into account my previous medical history and advised me to see a general surgeon/specialist if I was concerned about the possibility of a reoccurring hernia.

Dr. Andrews was prompt and professional when I had my colonoscopy. Since my appointment was handled by my GP, I never physically went to his office. I met him when I had my procedure. His staff was supportive and communicative at every step in the process. His discussion of his findings and followup needs was complete and succinct. I liked his manner.

The day of my appointment Dr. Andrews Office was calling me to see if I could come in earlier. During Dr. Andrews examination he was moving his stethoscope over my lungs faster than I was breathing. He did not listen to me. He told me he did not think there was anything wrong in my GI system prescribed me a narcotic and another pill. He told me that if I still had the pain in a few months the to come back and see him. The pain had already been going on for over a month when I saw him.
