Poor experience overall, no time for the patient
Hard to get ahold of anyone at the office, usually wait at least an hour past my appointment time to be seen. Spends maybe 5 minutes with me as a patient. Forces me to come annually for a very expensive visit in order to get a refill of the same medication i have been on for 17 years even though i have done the required blood work. Good at being a research doc, poor customer experience overall

Seemed like a cool dentist until I asked questions
I called his office just to ask him if it the bridge was still needed as I haven’t been in pain since a few days after the antibiotics. He was extremely rude over the phone even though I was simply asking questions about my health. I have real bad anxiety over getting dental work done. I’ve continuously told him I don’t deal well with dental work, or mouth pain, and that I find even a crown to be extremely painful and my mouth is very sore afterwards. Dr. Coates said it would be “just a crown and root canal and it won’t hurt – and if you’d stop talking over me you would understand that…”. I said that might be true for some people, but I have had crowns and root canals done and they have all been extremely afterwards. Again, he completely downplayed the fact that people have different pain tolerances for different things. I was in the military for six years, I’m not exactly a wimp, I just have a super sensitive mouth. He didn't care and said "just don't come in" in frustration

Doctor uninvolved
Doctor does not do follow up appointments. Leaves everything to his PA & she falls short.

Best doctor ever
So personable and really cares about your Health. Suffering from IBS for so long and he finally clued me in on the Fod Map Diet. It’s what we are eating that effects us. He Personally cares about what he eats, so his patients are just as important. Goes to many locations Greenville, Sheridan. East Paris, Wyoming main office and even Texas. Probably left out a few. Get your scope scheduled now! Scope 6/22 in fact today.

I was referred to this doctor by my PCP so I trusted that Dr. Coates would care about me as a patient. Boy was I wrong, he rushed into the room without listening to my concerns and rushed back out. I had to ask the MA to speak with him again to go over care. Exact same thing happened, but this time as he was walking me up to front desk to rush me out door. I just wasted co-pay and not one of my problems have been answered. I will be seeking another Gastro that will listen.

I was suffering horribly with stomach issues and finally thought I could get some help..i was wrong. I got a gastric emptying study done on june 13th and I was told I would be called with the results. I was never called so I assumed all was well (me being a naive 18 year old didn't think to call to make sure because I was specifically told they would call). The following year on January 8th I had an appointment and I wasnt told anything about the study. I went home that day researching about my symptoms and I had found gastroparesis and was convinced that I had that. I called up the office to talk to a nurse to tell them about it and she told me that I do have that and it was written in my file. I was not informed of this and this whole time I had been struggling with my stomach issues and went through so much pain not knowing why and what was wrong with me. I held back tears when she told me this; I was so upset.

Dr Coates is ok, getting through to the office for ANYTHING is a nightmare, it is impossible to talk to a live person, they are very slow in getting anyone to call back after leaving messages.

After reading the reviews I shouldn't be surprised but I was excited to finally see a Dr. Who I thought was help me. After doing all procedures to me and setting me up with treatments for his wife I called the office to cancel an appointment due to extreme weather and me living an hour away and got a letter in the mail to find a new Dr and they were dropping me as a patient.... When I called to explain I had left a message on their VM (because nobody picked and up and you were instructed to leave a message) the front office lady was very rude and told me they would send my information to me... Ohh ok cool... Never ever again will I see him or his wife due to the level of unprofessionalism.

Dr. Allen Coates is OK but Always have to wait for 2 hrs past appointment time. Every person in the waiting room has been there for hours every time. Have to wait for weeks to get prescription refills. Called down 6 times and left messages to get a 6 month appointment scheduled then got a letter in the mail from them saying that I was over due for my appointment. I am done with them. In trying to sort out medical issues for my dad, me living out-of-state, staff is not very responsive and there seems to be a disconnect in someone calling to schedule another procedure that he had done only 6 months ago...without any indications that frequent monitoring is warranted. It would be nice to either get through to a live human who can answer questions or have my voicemail message returned with the requested concern addressed.

He's the best!! My previous doc gave up after 2 years of negative tests, so I was referred to Dr. Coates. He diagnosed my condition on our first appt, and we found a treatment plan that's more effective than I'd ever hoped for. He continued to follow up regularly to make sure my meds were still helping, was always wonderful at explaining my condition and our options, and genuinely wants to help people. I sadly had to stop seeing him because I changed insurance companies, but he's the best.

Dr. Coates seems like a nice guy and a good doctor. But he is severely understaffed all the time. It is near impossible to get a call or email back, which is very scary in some scenarios not being able to reach them. They mixed up my file with another's and tried getting me on different meds until I called and questioned it. I would stay away from here if you're looking for a new gi.

Dr. Coates is absolutely amazing and highly recommended. However, his after hours (especially) and other schedulers along with several other office/behind the desk personnel, are extremely unpleasant and rude! They are easily replaceable and should be asap! Thx for listening
