He was totally uninterested in me and my situation. Suggested that I (a PhD familiar with statistics myself) didn't understand that professionals go by the numbers not by patient subjective experience. He didn't listen. He forced me to have yet another (after 5 previous) sleep study because only his could be trusted. (He wouldn't even accept the Mayo Clinic study!) Then, either his sleep technician didn't report things correctly or Big Alon misinterpreted. When I tried to correct him....Barney hold the doors!! He wouldn't hear of it. He is quite full of himself. I sent him a long letter explaining that if he had simply had a bad day (as we all do), we could do the appointment over. But, if we did, I expected to be respected and to be a partner in my own healthcare decisions. He never replied.

Dr. Avidan couldn't have cared less about me or my problem. He spent 15 minutes with me over Zoom half-listening and then prescribed basically the exact same treatment that ay 1st year PCP would. 'Oh you're having sleep problems? Here's a CPAP. That'll be $600 a month. We won't be following up with you because we don't care if your problem gets fixed. Have a good day.'He charges my insurance outrageous fees and delivers zero value. His back office is hopelessly dysfunctional. Their phone numbers don't work, the left hand doesn't know the right hand exists let alone what it's doing. I am constantly getting contradictory information and getting the run around every time I try to get a straight answer out of anyone. There is absolutely nothing special about Dr. Avidan in terms of treatment for sleep disorders and he is essentially running a scam. DO not fall for the 'I'm a sleep specialist. He offers no value add beyond what any other doctor would give you.Don't waste your time.

Impolite, Dismissive
Dr. Avidan says he wants you to talk up, but when you do he doesn't listen and doesn't want to hear it. He is rude and dismissive of what you say, and believes he knows best even though there are contrary data he refuses to listen to, let alone consider. He struck me as pompous and pre-decided based on irrelevant factors, not having studied your chart, rather than reading your chart, listening for your input, and waiting for data. I will never go back to him. The other reviewer who called him 'Dr. Rude' is spot on. P.S. I believe this doctor is knowledgeable, but the pre-judgment and pre-decision and refusal to listen and silencing of input makes that knowledge not useful in a clinical setting. He probably should be a researcher rather than a treating doctor.

The best sleep doctor in town!!!!!!!
Dr. Avidan, Director of UCLA Sleep saw me ad the advice of my primary physician. We were told that he is the most knowledgeable sleep physician in Southern California. We were amazed by his gracious nature and his warmth. He saw us with his sleep fellow and were learned so much about this condition. He called me after my sleep study and spend an additional 30 minutes reviewing the treatment. An amazing physician!!!!

Since we didn’t catch Dr. Avidan’s name during our teleconference with him in October 2021, my husband and I have referred to him as Dr. Rude which best describes his attitude and behavior. When one becomes part of a study program at UCLA, one would hope that every medical person that has contact with a patient would conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner. Unfortunately, that was not the case with Dr. Avidan. Since he refused to make any effort to solve a problem we were having getting a replacement CPAP machine for the one that was recalled, the one that was ordered by a UCLA doctor, the same doctor that ordered the sleep study to begin with, we have been forced to find help outside of UCLA where doctors actually treat patients rather than collect data. Unfortunately, time spent being tested multiple times both in person and via teleconferences was time wasted…over a year without any constructive help. My husband is 82 years old….he can’t have that time back.

I am a physician in the neurosciences with a neurological sleep condition who has tried to see this physician. The process is unprofessional and unresponsive. I will not be seeing this physician and certainly will NEVER refer any patients to him or his group.

I haven't even been able to see Dr. Avidan thanks to UCLA's bureaucracy. I've been trying for a month to figure out what I need to do to get a sleep study scheduled, to no avail. I've had two doctors send in referrals (one of which UCLA claims to have not received), and I've just been given a runaround, being told different things almost every time I call. They don't call back when they say they will, and they aren't even themselves aware of what needs to be done to get a sleep consultation and then a sleep clinic. They're also fragmented, since the sleep consultation center is separate from the sleep clinic (so idiot 1 never knows what idiot 2 is doing or saying). I should have scheduled with a private practice in the first place. UCLA has been a complete waste of time.

I had really hoped to see Dr. Avidan regarding my sleep issues. Unfortunately I could not make it through the bureaucracy and disorganization of the office staff at the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center. 4 weeks after sending them my medical records and I still can't even get someone to review my records and schedule an appointment. Pretty upsetting when thats 4 weeks of not sleeping.
