Dr Gillego has a wonderful, nurse-like bedside manner. This is unusual for a surgeon. But is just what a patient needs when seeing a breast surgeon. She was truly kind, patient & helpful. Throughout the entire experience she made me comfortable. The surgery, an incisional biopsy, went very well and the incision is thin and neat. A doctor with skill, expertise and amazing bedside manner can be hard to come by but Dr. Gillego truly has it all! I am so incredibly grateful to have been in her care during my breast cancer journey. Not only did she perform my lumpectomy absolutely flawlessly, she took great care in helping me with all my care procedures with the Yale oncology staff and following up with me to check in every step of the way. Dr. Gillego is the kindest physician I have ever encountered. I'm very sorry she is leaving for Connecticut at the end of the summer, but patients there will now have the benefit of her high-quality care. Once she saw me on the same day when I had a breast concern. All of the nurses and other helpers were friendly, but her secretary was quite prim and grim.
