wrong procedure recommendation
I saw Dr Tahernia several years ago for cervical pain. Turns out I needed either a fusion procedure or artificial disc implant. Dr Tahernia said I couldn't have an artificial disc implant because there wasn't enough of the disc left to replace it with an implant. This was a misrepresentation in attempt to get me to have him do a fusion procedure, because Medicare wouldn't pay for an artificial disc. I went ahead and had an artificial disc implant by Dr. Hyun Bae at Cedars Sinai in West Hollywood. Results have been perfect, after 9 years, and recovery after surgery was much quicker than if I had fusion.

Medical professionalism at its finest!
I wanted to write this review to thank Dr.Tahernia for giving me my life back pain-free. I was told many years ago by my doctor that I would always have to take opioids and that surgery probably wouldn't help much, if at all, so I just believed him and unfortunately lived with this chronic pain and addiction to opioids. But I would not accept that fate for my life anymore, so I researched and found Dr.Tahernia. So, I quickly made an appointment for an evaluation. And when the time came for my evaluation, in walked a very pleasant, gentlemanly doctor who exuded professionalism and confidence. I told Dr.Tahernia what my other doctor told me, and he simply said he was wrong. He said that all the pain I was having was from a "pinched" nerve, and it could be easily fixed with a procedure called a "decompression." So, now fast forward a month and a half later, I'm back to living my life again pain-free as I recuperate back to my good health again. Thank you, Dr.Tahernia. You're the best!

Great, so far. Doesn’t mince words. My next step is to schedule recommended surgery for “ pins and a titanium cage (??) around L-5 and L-4 discs “”which are pinching a nerve. It has given me debilitating pain for many years.

In February 2019, Dr Tahernia performed a Laminectomy on my left side, lower lumbar for a pinched nerve. Very satisfied with his ability to help me feel better. He listens and answers all your questions. His bedside manner is friendly and he’s easy to talk too. He’s the best in the area!

He fixed me and gave me my active life back! After 3 years of PAIN, countless medical people, shots, drugs, alternative procedures, PT, etc., Dr. Tahernia was the first doctor to tell me he could alleviate my pain with a 45 minute, one inch incision surgery. I went home the same day and haven’t had a second of sciatica pain since! LOVE DR. T!

Dr. Tahernia figured out what was wrong with me AFTER 5 other doctors "guessed" at what I needed and got into arguments about what I needed (each one had a different guess). Dr. Tahernia said that my back had had some negative changes (after a new MRI), but to go home and don't worry about it until my back told me I needed help. THEN call and make as appointment. Great personality also!

Pain in the back – Nov 01, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Tahernia?
In April 2018 I had an initial visit with Dr Tahernia at Desert Orthopedic to have him look into my long going, severe lumbar pain. I had undergone many injections the we’re becoming less effective and was reluctantly taking heavy painkillers. After an extensive workup and diagnoses he confidently recommended I have him do surgery for me. In November 2018 I underwent a major four hour procedure to fuse L4, L5 and S1 and to “clean up” other issues in that area. I had my last follow

I've referred 13 people to Dr. Tahernia over the past 5 years since having back surgery. Everyone loves him. I was so bad I couldn't sit and had to lay on my stomach and have my husband assist me in walking anywhere the pain was so bad. Dr. Tahernia gave us our lives back and like I said, it's been 5 wonderful years, golfing a few times a week and doing everything I used to do. What a blessing he is!! Thank you Dr. Tahernia and I'll keep those referrals coming.

Dr. Tahernia is an excellent surgeon & I highly recommend him to anyone for a speedy recovery & seamless procedure. I had a broken neck from a drunk driver who was going up the hill on the wrong side of the street, it was a serious injury and required a delicate surgical procedure close to the spinal cord. Dr Tahernia gave me confidence in our preliminary appointments & I went into surgery with full assurance that he would do an excellent job & he did & I didn't even need physio. Many Thanks xox
