Dr. Barnhart assured me my daughter's vision was "absolutely fine" after we brought it to her attention that her eyes were refracting the light differently (one was red, one was white.) We pushed to see a specialist and found that our child was only seeing basic shapes and forms less than a foot in front of her. Had we waited beyond 3-4 years of age, the specialist assured us it would be been nearly impossible to correct it. Additionally, she told me, a mother with an extensive professional background of working with children in an educational capacity, that I was being "overly concerned and to not helicopter" when I expressed concerns about language development for my song he was 1.5 years. At four years old we are now looking at a diagnosis of autism. We have asked that it be noted in both children's files that they are NOT to be seen by Dr. Barnhart. I would strongly suggest other parents to choose another provider that will actively advocate for your child as much as you would.
