Review: Dr. Andrew Kamien, Surgeon at NE Medicine
My experience with Dr. Andrew Kamien post-gallbladder surgery on December 2, 2024, was challenging. Complications led to severe pain. Dr. Kamien's approach was impersonal; he entered my room with a team without introduction. Despite no clear cause for my pain after testing, he stated he was limited in further action. I sought pain management but found his response lacking empathy, leading me to involve a patient advocate. His exit was abrupt, and staff feedback suggests room for improvement in interpersonal interactions. While I recognize his surgical skills, more compassionate care would enhance patient experience. In particular, I felt his handling of my pain management requests was dismissive, which was concerning in my state of vulnerability. His demeanor could benefit from greater sensitivity to patient needs and better communication. Additionally, if seeking a surgeon, I would highly recommend finding someone other than Dr. Kamien.
