Excellent Experience
Dr. Kassir was extremely knowledgeable and informative, providing all of the information needed to make an informed decision about having a medical procedure. After the procedure he checked in personally at the hospital each day (including over the weekend) until I was discharged. After going home he was available on call (the next weekend) to answer questions I had about post-op care. Excellent experience!

Horrible first time experience
My wife, Noreen, sought out Dr. Kassir to do a colon surgery. We never met him before he walked into the room. We had spoken with his colleague at the time (which has left the practice), and we scheduled surgery for Aug 6. The weekend before surgery, my 87 year old mother fell and fractured her back. She lives alone and needed care, so we postponed the surgery. Two weeks later we get a letter stating our surgeon is no longer there, so we made an appt with Dr. Kassir, a dr in the same office. Dr. Kassir was beyond rude, angry and saying things like I'm not doing your surgery, You can just get in your car and travel to Glendale to have the surgery, oh, and this one I don't care what you do outside of this office, I'm the one who DECIDES what I do, and I AM NOT doing your surgery. My wife said she wished she had known how he felt before we waited to see him and wasted our time. Dr. Kasir said Oh me too. We left his office. Please be careful about Dr. Kassir.

Could have done better
Had he not nicked my kidney utter when doing colon surgery my cancer might have been cured as planned. The robot arm nicking and putting a smir of cancer cells on wound likely was cause of metastatic spread. He is a bit on the arrogant side and I was lead to believe he was a “top surgeon.” Well my disease is what it is and you might seek someone with better track record as I should have.

Condescending attitude
He performed the colon resection on September 17, 2021. To his credit, the ostomy has performed well. However, as of November 29, 2023, the surgical site has not healed. PET scans and CT scans revealed a fistula created by a 'nick' in my bladder which most likely occurred during the resection of the colon. I have gone back to him on the advice from the wound care doctor and Kassir's comment was, 'Well, he's not a surgeon is he!' His cavalier attitude and condescending comments have convinced me to seek a second opinion from another colorectal surgeon. I will not be going back to Kassir!

Amazing and kindhearted physician
I was referred to Dr. Kassir by my mother tho had colon cancer . She had a great outcome and he was there every step of the way. So after my colonoscopy showed abnormal reading and surgery was needed I asked for him and all went well. Super nice doctor . He is compassionate and gets to the point quickly. If you want a brilliant colorectal surgeon i recommend him highly . You want a hack that asks you about your favorite color and spends the exam talking about your kids , look elsewhere. He just talks about your treatment and what can be done. I want that. He’s a brilliant surgeon. I don’t need a doctor that asks me my favorite paint color . I’d rather they be brilliant as Dr. Kassir. I’m alive because of early detection and him as my surgeon

Colorectal Surgeon
"Proceeded with a colorectal resection knowing patient had not done bowel prep. Major post surgical problems for a routine procedure. Patient was hospitalized for months and has a very difficult experience. Multiple metastatic events followed. Dr Kassir should have rescheduled the surgery and allow patient to do bowel prep. Very poor call on his part and this patient has paid dearly for his recklessness."

Colon resection
Dr. Kassir is fantastic. I was so lucky to have him do my surgery. He was always honest and forthright about what I might expect. I had zero pain following surgery--I told the nursing staff to remove the morphine drip as I did not need it. I equate the lack of post-op pain with his skill as a surgeon. You cannot go wrong having Dr. Kassir perform your surgery. Thank you, Dr. Kassir

My father had surgery the first of November 2021. The office canceled his follow up appointment and set it for the middle of December. My father called the office and told the staff how much pain he was in and the discomfort he was experiencing and they told him no appointments were available and to go to the ER. We took him to the ER twice. I too have called and left messages on the voicemail. I did receive one call back and the employee assured me she would consult with Dr Kassir and call me back. It’s been four days and I have yet to receive a call back. My father was admitted to the hospital three days ago. Medical personnel are trying to figure out what is going on. It would be nice to talk with Dr Kassir to find out details about the surgery and if there is a connection between the surgery and the symptoms my father is experiencing. It’s really disheartening a medical professional does not care about his patients and their well being after a surgical procedure.

I showed up to my 11am appmt in great pain, had to hobble my way up to the 2nd story all the way to his office. I fell in pain after making it in the door. I'd been dealing with this pain since October 27th and it had been increasing. I had been to AZ Digestive Health and referred over by Dr. Seetharus to Dr. Kassir for my surgery as he felt they would be able to handle my situation better. Nope. I got greeted immediately with rejection, the doctor came out and told me I needed to go elsewhere, they couldn't help me if I was in that much pain and proclaimed that hemorrhoids don't hurt that much. I said if you'd do the appointment, you'll see. They get me back there and he goes ballistic over them not telling me the proper way to sit on his odd-looking examination table. I was taking the most comfortable position I could be in. The ladies brought a wheelchair and he began saying security needed to be called because I was taking too long to leave! I'm appalled at his horrific ways!

When I filled out their medical paperwork, I was taken back immediately, meaning the doctor didn't look my medical history over. I told the doctor I typed up my medical history and he didn't seem interested in seeing it or learning about it at all. Dr. Andrew Kassir spoke to me for a total of 4 minutes. He cut me off every time I spoke of my medical history. After a 10 second physical examination, he did in fact provide with a completely different diagnosis than I had a different Colorectal surgeon (one, singular)mere weeks before. I mentioned this to him, and he said, "Well you seem like a person who just goes around to a lot different doctors, so just do what you want." His tone implied that getting a second opinion was a bad, when in actuality his different diagnosis proved that a second opinion can be beneficial. Skip Kassir, if you want a doctor who respects you as a human being, who has a positive bed side manner, and who wants the full picture of your health.

Just don't waste your time or money. I had 2 appointments scheduled with this pompous Dr. and took time off of work for these appointments and at the last minute he cancels on me even when I was already at his office. They claimed he was called in for an emergency procedure both times. I guess my procedure didn't pay him enough.

Dr. Kassir is a wonderful and excellent surgeon. He is decisive, intelligent, and incredibly thorough. He made my mother comfortable and prepared for her colon surgery, and made sure she knew she was going to be okay. I never worried about her in his hands. He was kind to me afterwards and promised me that his team would take good care of her, and I am so very very thankful for him. There is no one I would recommend higher than him. He was truly a blessing, and a gifted man.

Dr.Andrew Kassir may be an excellent technician as a surgeon, but as a person, he is rude, discourteous, and disrespectful. He has as much warmth as a steel pier near the Arctic Circle. His arrogance during the 10 minutes I was in his exam room was greater than the sum total of all the doctors I've seen in my 70+years on this earth. I cannot judge his skills in the surgical theatre but his "bedside" manner towards me was very disturbing. He basically disregarded the summary notes of my Gastroenterologist and took a negative stance from the start. I won't recommend him based on my limited time with him but I will also not post a "not recommended". Just a caution from my experience and To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Without an MRI, told me I would need a permanent colostomy due to rectal cancer. When I started to cry, he told me to see a psychiatrist. After getting a second, third, fourth and fifth opinion, all of who disagreed w Kassir, I’m happy to report my tumor was successfully removed and I did not need a colostomy. I can’t imagine how different my life would’ve been had I listened to this awful man.
