Dr. Andrew Petrella, MD

I found the follow up and attempts to make a follow up appointment very frustrating. I told of pain to his PA Dave after my procedure. He explained it off to the manipulation of the leg during the procedure. I mentioned the same pain to the physical therapist at their location. She reacted as if she did not want to hear it or address it. Some months went by, nothing improved . an attempt to set up an appointment went unanswered. I then sought out other practices to address the issue. Multiple attempts to have my records transferred were meant with multiple promises and no call backs actually resulting in any positive action. I would suggest that this practice needs a tune up.

I called on my husband's behalf the day after surgery and spoke with a PA named Shelby. My husband was in extreme pain even after doubling up on the pain meds. She basically said the Dr. was not available and they couldn't call anything stronger in. The surgery center told us to call the Dr. if he was in a lot of pain which is what I did. Shelby was extremely rude and told me she did her job and then was laughing at me when I got upset. She was very condescending and did not offer to call the Dr. I have never spoken with a medical professional that was so rude. I'm surprised the Dr. has her working for him. She told me he needed to go to the emergency room. She completely blew me off and then asked me how did I know if she called the Dr. or not. It was like speaking with a 15 year old. If the Dr. is not going to help after the surgery then they should not tell people to call if they are in pain. I would not recommend this practice to anyone if you want adequate care.

Friendly , professional, actually listens to you ! Wants best outcome for you, the patient! Feels more like visiting family , everyone is friendly and although they are busy , wait time is minimal , never been more the 10 minute wait past my original timing , can't say that about many other places these days..Staff is soooo busy , but greeted often by patients that are in pain , and are going through their own stuff that I don't know if they realize how rude they are , pain makes life miserable for sure, but staff , when given the option offer smiles and greet you with smile and quickly as possible check you in ! Most importantly surgery was best decision I ever made and Doctor Petrella was amazing! Can't even tell I had surgery as the scar looks just like another palmar flexion crease , it's pretty amazing ! 99.9% relief , unfortunately arthritis is another issue ... He was highly reccomended by my manager, he had a knee replacement a few years ago , along with staff! Says it all !

My mom is 90 years old and has severe arthritis and her doctor is Dr. Petrella. He is aware of her condition. I called and asked for a hardship letter for the post office so my mom does not have to go down a steep driveway and then try to walk to the mailbox which is a bit of a distance away from her front door. I dealt with Taylor who was supportive and Ally who seemed polite but more mechanical in her interaction with me. I reached out for this on 12/1/2023 and was told we would hear back by Tuesday which did not happen. I had to call again to follow up on 12/6/2023 at which point I was told Dr. Petrella is out of the office until 12/12/2023. Why was I not informed of this on 12/1/2023? I received a phone call later in the day from Taylor that Dr. Petrella would not write a letter as that is not what he does. Really, Dr. Petrella? Knee pain turned out to be bone on bone arthritis. Got a shot that worked for a while and then another just before the Clearwater half marathon. Made it to the end but need a replacement. Not unexpected at 72.

I have been going to Dr. Petrella for many years for different issues with my hands. Every treatment/surgery he has given me has been excellent and cleared up my issue.

He was very approachable and personable. Explained my condition and the intended procedure very clearly with a drawing of the possibility of 2 different approaches, so clear that it gave confidence in him.

Dr.. Petrella has been my Doctor foe 20 years, I have all the confidence in him and know whatever type of procedure I need He will take care of it with the most care one could have.

Despite being crowded, taken on time.

Everyone from front desk to checkout was friendly, respectful, courteous, and helpful. All were knowledgeable in their area and treated me like a person not part of the “herd” to get done with.

Everything in the office went smoothly.

I know I shouldn’t enjoy visiting a doctor’s office but I truly do enjoy going to Dr. Petrella’s. From the moment I enter the door the staff are so welcoming and it’s a nice feeling sensing everyone loves their job. Dr. Petrella and his PA’s are top notched and they actually feel hand picked to match his disposition. I feel totally comfortable in their diagnoses and treatments. If you are at anytime in need of a Orthopedic Surgeon I suggest you find your way to Dr. Petrella’s office. You will not be disappointed eh

I would highly recommend Dr. Petrella and his staff of PAs. I recently underwent a total knee replacement surgery and went into it with complete confidence. The rehab staff is excellent and everything appears to be right on track. This is a very busy surgeon and office staff, but that is because he is that good, so bring patience with you. Definitely would recommend Dr. Petrella to anyone needing orthopedic consult/procedure. Great bedside manner and explains everything thoroughly and with documentation. Isn't satisfied till you are satisfied. His staff is very friendly and top notch in their field.
