THEM'S THE BREAKS Buyers, beware—and I use that term advisedly because this isn't health and medical care we're talking about here—we're talking about hard-core business. Let's say, as in my case, you've experienced a bad fall in one of your uptown classes and landed hard on your side, and you want to have it--and your back and shoulder which seems to have sustained most of the impact--checked out to assess the "damage." The minute you walk in the door, however, before you even get to see the doctor—what they used to call an orthopedist in the old days but I don't know if the gent in question actually deserves the honor--they demand payment. And I do mean to say, they have already contacted all your insurance companies and they know exactly how much coverage you've got and how big your copay is—and if you still haven't met your deductible, which in this case I hadn't, that means slapping you with several hundred dollars in charges and you better produce a credit card—fast--or you're not getting to see anybody at all on this particular emergency visit. Interestingly enough, included among the charges is a whopping bill for X-rays. X-rays? you ask. How can the doctor possibly know you need X-rays when he hasn't even examined you yet? Oh, the all-knowing staff answer, who are clearly all-too-prepared with an answer: we'll refund you the money if he doesn't. Well, whether he does or doesn't we'll never find out—because again before meeting the oh-so-accommodating gent, you're whisked into the X-ray room, where the again oh-so-obliging technician takes not one, not two, but at least six pictures of what may be the offending area. Then again, no such thing actually exists, as you ultimately find out. There's nothing wrong with you whatsoever, the doctor, whom you finally get to meet, states in unimpressed (and unimpressive) tones, except perhaps a cracked rib and, as everybody knows, there's absolutely nothing that can be done about that. But first, in order to be 100 percent certain—and to show how comprehensive his care is--he'll double-check with a sonogram of your side. Now, does he ask you to remove your shirt and sweater and don a robe so he can access the area more quickly-not to mention more cleanly? No such thing. He applies the instrument—and all the necessary goo that goes with it--underneath both garments and rummages around under them until he can state with absolute conviction, as he wipes the goo off your shoulder albeit leaves all the rest on your clothing clothing, that he had it right the first time—nothing wrong at all. Not, however, before he rummages around just one last time underneath your clothing, mistaking your ribs for your shoulder blade--a perfectly understandable mistake, considering his hands are working in the dark--and then delivers the coup de grace. Does it hurt to the touch? he wants to know, all sly, not to say smirking, benevolence. Well, it's kind of hard to say, you reply, you can't very well reach around to your back and test it out with your own hands, can you? you say by way of apology. Oh, yes, he nods sympathetically, and then adds—with unmistakable reference to your age, which admittedly has seen a lot greener pastures before this late afternoon's visit--I have to assume no young men's hands have either! Ha, ha! Hardy ha-ha! Buyers beware? I take it back. Anyone with a head on their shoulders, not to mention the least shred of common sense—don't go anywhere near.

I wouldnt' be walking without Dr. Rosen. After performing four ACL (FOUR) reconstructions on my knees, Dr. Rosen is nothing short of a miracle worker. Other doctors are amazed when I tell them I've had four ACL replacements and walk without a limp or any pain whatsoever. Dr. Rosen takes the time to understand your anatomy and how much you want to "get back into" post op. I wouldn't send anyone who needs orthopedic surgery anywhere else. Period. Excellent office staff and its great to see a doctor who does procedures in-office (u/s, injections, x-rays) instead of sending you out to another facility. Super convenient office location as well, literally 100 yards from the Q train stop. If professional athletes use him on their shoulders and elbows and knees, you know he's the real deal. He's not Dr. Bedside Manner, but that's not why you see an orthopedist. You need a world class surgeon, and that's Dr. Rosen.

I consulted the doctor for a wrist fracture. He never looked at my hand or responded my questions. Only looked at the X-rays and said that It will be ok if I leave it on a brace to heal and that even the angle was a little deviated I would not have consequences on mobility. He said “if I were you I would leave it as it is, no surgery”. Later on I saw his version of the story on the transcript of the visit where he said that I refused to have surgery even thought he explained me it was my best option. I was so upset that I found another doctor that fixed my arm after 4 weeks in pain due to poor treatment from this doctor. On top of that, he charged me for the visit as surgery when he never do anything but give me a crappy brace to wear.

Nnot impressed. I saw Dr. Rosen after leaving 2 docs at HSS who did not take me seriously regarding a repeat injury. He promised to follow through with me. But just as the others, after 6 weeks he sent me on my way and to PT, as said ankle was healing well. A follow up CT scan w a surgeon indicated ankle had never healed at all, was still broken. Called again to schedule urgently when rebroke ankle and they offered an appointment in a week - sent me to urgent care. Place is useless as all others. Only go here if you have a routine matter. Skip it if you have anything unusual or urgent.

I refused to change doctors after my last knee & shoulder doctor retired on me! I found Dr. R through my insurance & after 1st couple of visits I found that he is the one to keep 'cuz of his knowledge & personality! Whenever his office moves I'm following the doctor & now he's at his 3rd location & I am still w/ him & his associate, happened to be the physiatrist in town! Just the front desk ladies are a mess... Always mislabeled my referrals between the 2 doctors

I took my sister there when she was in severe pain and is a patient of the Doc treatment he is giving not working. My sister was refused care because her card declined because her bank was concerned that an earlier transaction may have been fraudulent. I am so disgusted! My sister thinks so highly of the doc that she did not tell me that they refused to see her. And it is probably good that she didn't because as much discomfort and to see her crying I would have turned things out.
