After having a horrible experience regarding my hip issue at my local clinic, I found Dr. Zhao online purely by accident. He was very thorough, listened to my issues and didn't make me feel like I was crazy. Left feeling good about my options, the next steps, and my diagnosis. Highly recommend him!

I asked Dr. Zhao For an MRI as A large back and blue area had developed below my knee. This developed without any known cause such as a fall or running Into an object. Dr. Zhao said he could "guarantee" this was a result of my "bone on bone" knees and this was "typical". He did not ask about other pain or symptoms I was experiencing that might be cause for an MRI. Considering the ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves and other elements around a knee I found this response totally unacceptable. When did medicine become such an exact science?? I did not feel my concerns were heard at all and the response was patronizing at best. I will NEVER make an appointment with this provider again. This experience causes me to question the competence of the Essentia orthopedic staff. I am seeking help outside of this clinic.

Dr Zhao is amazing! Second time with a sports injury. Will return if needed. Recommend without hesitation. Outstanding! My son, patient, even is considering sports medicine after graduation after working with Dr Zhao!

Overall my exchange with the provider was courteous and he addressed the symptoms I described. Otherwise, the tone, line of questions, and conversation was dismissive as best. I was partially incapacitated by the conditions of the exam room which meant I had difficulty articulating my issues. The initial conversation I had with the provider was rocky and led him to focus on the wrong issues. However, the overall pace and tone of the exam seemed to be intent on addressing the singular issue I brought up. While normally, that is expected, I felt as if the provider was focused on affirming and addressing the symptoms I had described in a manner that aimed to placate rather than address the underlying cause.

Dr. Zhao is AMAZING! He is gentle, explains complicated medical issues in a way that is easy to comprehend and makes feel safe and cared for with every interaction. He is a compassionate advocate for his patients. Essentia is lucky to have him, as am I.

Dr Zhao always is a concerned doctor. He takes time with each patient. His knowledge and skill is appreciated. I just can't tolerate the wait time at this clinic. I understand he had a patient before that required extra care but I would have appreciated knowing this while I waited
