Extremely rude and pushy
My mom survived a heart attack years ago, but developed some anxiety/PTSD from that day. Our beloved family doctor retired & the next one left for a different position. So mom landed on Angela Goodman. I went to the first appointment with her & was shocked at how rude Angela was to my mother. She belittled my mom repeatedly and expressed very clear and outward annoyance with my mom’s heart doctor and all he’s done to help her. Was unwilling to work together with him. Fast forward to mom’s next annual and my mom’s anxiety started to get bad right before entering the building. Naturally her BP went up, she was worried this appointment would be like the last. Angela then told my mom she was going to “give herself a stroke” if she kept coming in here with high blood pressure, while reprimanding my mom. Also spends the entire appointment going over health history - Would ask my mom about a procedure done years ago and would end with “or do you not remember that either?”
What went well
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Staff friendliness
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Appointment was rushed
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions

Won't advocate for her patient
Due to a 13 year bout with occasional flare-ups of back pain, Dr Goodman referred me for an MRI which I took, later to find out that the required pre-authorization had not come thru. The insurance then denied the MRI. I called the insurance company and they indicated that if the Dr would call them and make an argument for why the MRI had been necessary the insurance company will often back down and then ok it. I phoned Dr G's nurse and explained the situation -she said she would talk with the Dr and get back with me which she did. She said DR G said "the insurance company didn't think the MRI was necessary, so I'm not calling them." What??? She is the one who said it was necessary! But she wouldn't take 5 minutes to call them and make a case for why I needed it and now I am out $1,800. I even wrote a follow-up note to her, pleading to please help and hand-delivered it to the clinic -that was a week ago and no response.

I was glad to have nurses and Physician Assistants to help me with Dr. Goodman's direction to take twice the amount of pain medication for injuries, I can't remember which. I could not have a bowel movement and nurses suggested pro biotics. Dr. Goodman said the 2 were not related!

My mom saw Dr. Goodman for several years. She is perhaps the rudest person I have ever met. I live out of town but would attend doctor's visits when I was in town as I was my mom's medical POA. Dr. Goodman REFUSED to ever acknowledge my presence in the room much less respond to my question. She literally IGNORED me and most of them time ignored my mom's questions. The first time I chalked it up to Dr. Goodman having a bad day. We all have them. But over the course of the next two years her attitude and rude, inconsiderate, angry bedside manner continued. The only thing she did during the visits was to read over my mom's medical history and ask if anything had changed. There was no conversation about care. If my mom, dad or me tried to ask a question, it was ignored. Not even acknowledged with a comment that she would discuss it after she was finished reading through her chart. I begged my parents to discontinue her service but they loved Dr. Goodman's assistant and so they stayed.
