Parkinson visit
I found Dr Hohler to be very thorough. She answered all questions. Made suggestions to address my posture. She was able to gauge improvements I made by exercising and recommended the use of compression socks along with increasing water intake to to help with low blood pressure. Overall, a very positive appointment. I felt she really cared about my progress.

Irresponsible
Went to appointment with my very sick parent, who is unable to walk and has severe Parkinson, only to find out that appointment was cancelled without notifying me or patient. It is very difficult to bring patient to doctor, not to mention taking day off and preparing for that appointment. When asked staff on when did they try to notify and I always use patient portal to check if appointments are still available, staff wasn't able to say when. When i showed them on patient portal appointment still active, staff rudely stated that it IT error and we need to reschedule. Start rescheduling and we were told that they will see my parent only after 9 months, that when is next appointment available. Done with this doctor and her team, irresponsible, doesn't care and only thinks highly of herself. Will be looking for another neurologist.

Cold, Rigid, Businesslike Physician
I saw Dr. Hohler for a while for POTS. I'm shocked to see so many positive reviews, especially those calling her compassionate. I found that she regularly disregarded my concerns and was unable to take my comorbidities into consideration as she treats POTS with a cookie cutter approach. She was always distant and kept to a rigid time clock. She wanted me to see more specialists for things that a physician specializing in POTS should be able to do herself. Being disabled and having a heavy medical load already with doctors and physical therapists means that I can only keep up with so much. At our first appointment, she told me that the compression socks that are part of her treatment plan cost $20/pair. I found that they were $50+/pair, and they were ultimately a waste of money. Much of her treatment plan consisted of lifestyle adjustments like a very strict diet that would require a huge food budget and an amount of energy spent on cooking that most POTS patients do not possess.

Dr Hohler is a very knowledgeable doctor. However, in my dealings with her, she has been very impatient and business-like, bordering on rude and condescending. Felt like I was bothering her. Hopefully medical competence will be a reason for putting up with a lack of good and kind bedside manner.

I have been a patient of Dr Hohler's since 2010. She gave me back my life, and I held her in high esteem. Yesterday I had an appointment, I live in central Maine and have a usual drive of 4.5 hours from my door to hers. I always give myself an extra hour in case of road issues. It wasn't enough yesterday. I arrived stressed out and short of breath to find I was 20 minutes late, for reasons beyond my control. I found out that when a patient is 15 minutes late her appointment is canceled no matter what and that this policy was made by the doctors. I was not allowed to speak to anyone else about this, just told to reschedule. I could not bring myself to set myself up for a repeat of this extremely stressful outcome. I am looking for a new neurologist with humane office practices.

Incredibly competent and matter of fact, but still warm and cares deeply about patient quality of life. It’s so reassuring and unfortunately unusual to have my symptoms be believed, no question. Very reachable thru the web portal between appointments and scheduling the initial appointment had a surprisingly short wait. I would recommend everyone with POTS see Dr. Hohler. I feel so lucky I found her.
